Tanzania stripped of AIBA membership over drug trafficking

Na hii imekaaje?
Tanzania has been stripped of its International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) membership due to a drug trafficking incident that occurred earlier this year, xinhua reports.

The AIBA move was taken after the resignation of the Boxing Federation of Tanzania executive committee last month.

The international governing body has written to the African Boxing Confederation to inquire information on whether the Tanzanian boxing body had held elections or appointed an interim committee before the country could be considered for re-admission.

Boxing Federation of Tanzania President Shaaban Mintanga is facing drug trafficking charges while boxer Patrick Emilian and his coach Nasoro Michael are held in Mauritius on similar charges.
