EALA: As Members of CTI Commitee (Communication, Trade & Investment) we were in Mombasa last week to visit Mombasa Port as part of our oversight role.

I must admit that the Mombasa Port operations are highly commendable not only in terms of overall growth but also in the quality of service.

There is a remarķable progress in most of its operations...

1. Imports grew by 10.6% reaching 18.73 million tons in 2012 from 16.9 million tons in 2011.

2. Exports increased by 9.2% recording 3.05 million tons in 2012 from 2.79 million tons in 2011.

3. Transit traffic grew by 18.4% recording 6.63 million tons in 2012 from 5.60 million tons in 2011.

And by 2013 records indicate that positive developments have been noted, specifically after President Uhuru has met with all staholders of Kenya Ports Authority.

Subsequently, President Uhuru directed Ports Authority to submit to him monthly operational reports. (Ufuatiliaji wa karibu)

Not only is the infrastructure getting better but the management has decided to be not only aggressive but also pro active by opening bureau offices in Kampala, Kigali & Bujumbura so as to be closer to their customers.

The impression I got: Mombasa Port is a model of success.

This very impressive, am so proud of my president, the guy is so energetic such that people around him are finding it difficult to keep pace. When late for a meeting, he drives himself and avoids throwing the city into a traffic grid.

Well, from the text you have quoted all I see is the good lady admitting that the operations at Mombasa port are "commendable" and she was obviously impressed. I see nowhere where she says she would prefer (Recommend) Mombasa to Dar.

Not a secret Mombasa port perfoms way better than Dar. Bandari ya Dar inaendeshwa kiswahili, ya Mombasa inaendeshwa kitaalam. I do not see why this should be politicized, facts and statistics speak for themselves.
