For a second day running, Tanzanian legislators are demanding that their president applies for an international loan that will see the country complete some development projects that are perceived to be stuck. Among the projects is the Standard Gauge Railway which was started by the Late John Pombe Magufuli.

The latest to add his voice to the ongoing debate is Reuben Kwagilwa a Member of Parliament representing Handeny constituency. He said in parliament that the country needs to go for the loans to complete the SGR which he claims will take close to 81 years to complete if the country does not think beyond the revenue from the country’s tax.
This new development is the complete opposite of what the former president the late Magufuli advocated for. Magufuli was a strong believer in national independence and depended so much on facilitating development using the country’s expenditure. Kindly follow the writer for more updates.
