Kwa hio report yako, data ya 10 months imepeanwa from July 2016 hadi April 2017. In that 10 month period, T.Z transacted approximately Tsh 50 trillion, an equivalent of Ksh 2.5 trillion. ( Ksh 1 = Tsh 20). In conclusion, hiyo report inasema T.Z imetransact Ksh. 2.5 trillion in 10 months. Tanzania will never catch up with Kenya economically in our lifetime!!!! maybe huko 2060 or 2070s but not in the next half a century!!!

JUNE 20, 2017 Between July 2016 to April 2017, a total of 1,444.6 million transactions valued at TZS 49,997.1 billion were transacted in mobile money transfer in Tanzania, the Central Bank (BOT) indicates in its Monthly Economic Review of May 2017. This is 13.9% more than TZS 43,867.9 billion that were transacted via 1,217.70 million transactions during the similar period of the preceding year.

so between July 2016 to April 2017 ----Those are 9 months .... Each financial quarter is 3 months, So in essence the 9 months in this article are are Q3(July,august,sept), Q4(October,November, December), Q1(Jan,Feb,March) + April.......... in that period last year TZS 50 trillion was transacted through mobile money .....If you convert 50 Trillion Tsh to USD, its approximatel $22.3 Billion XE: Convert TZS/USD. Not unless you want to tell us that Tanzania has perfomed a miracle by transacting $22.5B in Q3 2017, a figure which is close to what Tz transacted in 10months between July 2016 to April 2017, The total of $22.5Billion he is talking about is the total or Q1+Q2+Q3 =22.5B

Kwa mfano Tanzania mobile Money transected mwaka jana ni 47% of its GDP, figure hiyo inalinga sawa na hizi data zilizotolewa hadi Q3 mwaka huu $22B, tunategemea ikifika Q4 itafika $24B ambayo ni karibu 48% ya $51B expected Tanzania GDP ya 2017.

Kenya by Q3 total Money transected, yaani Q1+Q2+Q3 ni $17B. Msijaribu kupotosha kwamba hiyo ni ya miezi mitatu pekee, huwa waandishi wenu huko, na wakenya wengi kwa ujumla uwezo wenu wa kuvavadua mambo ni mdogo na mnaufanya kiushabiki na kutafuta sifa zaidi kuliko kuwa analytical. Kama kweli hiyo ni miezi mitatu pekee, hii maana yake ni kwamba kwa mwaka ni $68B, hii maana yake 98% cooked GDP yenu ya $70B inapitia kwenye simu, hata hiyo pesa ya SGR imepitishwa kwenye simu, FDI zote zinapitia kwenye simu, kwahiyo Bank Kenya zingefungwa. Tumieni akili acheni ushabiki. tuambieni ni asilimia ngapi ya GDP yenu hupitia Mobile money, then tupiga hesabu tuone kama hiyo $17B ni kwa Q3 pekee au ni jumla ya kuanzia Q1.

he value of funds transacted through mobile phones in Kenya stood at Sh2.4 trillion in 2014 following increased uptake by consumers and aggressive marketing by service providers.


That is more money than is currently held as deposits by all the country's banks, mortgage firms and micro-financiers combined.

According to the latest data released by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), transactions carried out through mobile phones rose by 24.7 per cent to Sh2.37 trillion in 2014 compared to Sh1.9 trillion that was transacted through the same channel in 2013.

Transactions through mobile money platforms close to half GDP

Cash transacted through mobile money platforms in the year to June 30 equalled nearly half the national production, according to latest official statistics. The payments hit Sh3.574 trillion between July 2016 and June 2017 in about 1.7 billion transactions, Central Bank of Kenya’s latest numbers show.

The value was 15.8 per cent higher than the previous year’s Sh3.086 trillion.

This means the transactions were an equivalent of 48.76 per cent of Kenya’s estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Sh7.33 trillion ($70.53 billion) as of December 2016 going by the World Bank Group data.

Thats between July 2016 and June 2017----------- Thats approximately $35B USD or half the GDP,,,,, that also means Kenyas GDP is and has never been cooked, because you cant argue with such a glaring fact, if Kenya's GDP was truly less than $70B it would mean a greater % GDP just exchanges hands through mobile and like you said ""SGR imepitishwa kwenye simu, FDI zote zinapitia kwenye simu, kwahiyo Bank Kenya zingefungwa....blah blah""


if Kenyas mobile money transactions for 2017 were Tanzania, it would have been 70% of GDP!!!!!!


Tena bado hatujaongelea transaction za bank ambapo kenya pia inaongoza kwa % of banked population, last year the number of Bank accounts regardless of people with multiple accounts, overtook the number of mobile money accounts

Nimekuuliza very simple question, unashindwa kujibu umeamua kujaza server bila sababu, swali ni kwamba, kama hiyo $17B ni robo mwaka, kwahiyo kwa mwaka mzima ni kama $68B, more than your GDP which according to WB report ya 2017 your GDP is just under $65B?, jibu hilo swali, what was amount for Q1+Q2,?
