The Universities Act 2005, gives the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) mandate to perform three major roles for Higher education Institutions in Tanzania which are: i) Regulatory, ii) Supportive and iii) advisory. Under the supportive roles, TCU has been organizing among other things the Higher Education Science and Technology Exhibitions. This is one of the effective ways of keeping the general public informed about the growth and application of Higher Education, Science and Technology for human development and improvement in Tanzania.
This year, about 80 institutions from within and outside Tanzania are expected to participate at the Exhibitions. Being an annual event, TCU is once again organizing the eighth exhibitions in higher education, science and technology. Each year the organizing team sets the theme of which it becomes a leading fortitude of the exhibitions, and this year’s theme is: “Building a Knowledgeable, Accountable and Progressive Society through Higher Education, Science and Technology”. The Exhibitions will take place at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Dar es Salaam from 22[SUP]nd[/SUP] – 24[SUP]th[/SUP] May 2013.
This event provides an avenue for a number of education stakeholders gather. In recent years, Tanzania has been experiencing some critical issues facing education sector which require immediate address. TCU sees the forthcoming exhibitions as an opportunity to present/share some issues with general public through paper presentation.
There are three major themes in which papers will focus, which are:

  1. Higher Education in Tanzania: Trends, Prospects and challenges
  2. Preparation of students for Higher Education in Tanzania
  3. Steering the culture of academia-industry-government linkage in promoting HE in Tanzania.
This is to call for competent academic practitioners to express their interest in preparing and presenting papers during the exhibitions on the above themes. Interested individuals are welcomed to send maximum of two pages (times New Roman, font 12, 1.5 space) “Concepts” 5[SUP]th[/SUP] April 2013 through the following email address:
es@tcu.go.tz
The Organizing team will go through the concepts and the successful individuals will be contacted and given TORs for full paper writing. However, successful individuals will be paid an honorarium for preparation and presentation of the papers.
