Brother if you want to know the proper definition of middle income economy, JUST take trip to the countries suchlike Namibia, Botswana, a bit Angola you will really feel that I'm now in the middle income economy.

Unfortunately Afrika has never been critical to question whatever they have been told by this bwana wakubwa. We think they have right to tell us what to do basing on (our myth that they have) experience and technical capacity.
One of most debated issue in here JF and globally is the criteria that whoever is spending less than a dollar a day is below the cut of point of wealthy people. So he/she is poor. But the issue is that criterion hols water in well established western economy, where their it's easy to get the data on households expenditures. But not the case in Afrika coz we have big % of unregistered businesses and unrecorded transactions. It's not uncommon even for middle income individuals (learned people) to have no record for their daily or weekly or monthly expenditure. To tell HOW much raised and spent.
Again, in rural areas, there are a lot of consumptions which can not be expressed in monetary term. Think of a village Mama who fetches water from the river or spring, cooked the green vegetable from her backyard garden, gives fresh milk from her cow, uses firewood to cook, the list is long. All these commodities make livelihoods of villagers but, it's very challenging to put all these in dollar term. So coz these is difficult to say in USD they conclusively say guys spend less a dollar a day.
