Introduction
I am writing this article from a beach front in Kimbiji overlooking the indian ocean and the beautiful view of Kigamboni Beach front. Its a beautiful place to be with mild sunlight and ocean breeze.Today I want to write and bring a discussion on the 4th Industrial revolution with specific focus on Tanzania as a Nation. This article targets policy makers, investors, technocrats, academicians and other people. As a warning I must declare that I am not an expert in any of the issues that I will be raising and therefore I will humbly accept criticism and any one with additional information can further contribute to this topic and hence help to bring the topic into more focus.
I would also like to bring up the issue of my choice of the language for this article which I know will somehow limit the audience. It is not my intention to limit the audience of this topic but the materials I am discussing can easily be expressed in English language but in the comment sections I believe we can still have a discussion in any language.
Again on my choice of the platform which for stories of change I really want to see if this story along with others can be used as a catalyst to discus our our national development agenda.Hence by submitting this in this competition trust that It will be scrutinized enough which will be better.

What is the 4th Industrial revolution?
Simply put, this is the period in which there is a high level of technological changes.Just as during the previous industrial revolution, technology was the driving force behind the change.I do not want to talk about the second or third industrial revolution but briefly put,the major technological changes that occurred at different stages marked the various phases.
The talk of the 4th Industrial revolution which is term popularized by Klaus Schwab in hisi book with same title simply means"A period during which there is a high tech revolution in a country and the world"
We are now in the 4th Industrial revolution with technologies such as AI,IoT,Machine Learning and robotics and much more we can see there is in increase in communication and interaction between various machines and other technological objects. What was once a subject of scientific fiction books and movies is now a reality.
WHAT ARE THE KEY FEATURES OF THE FORTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION?
The key feature of 4IR is increased communication and interconnection where various devices and gadget can communicate with each other. This about a situation where by,A car can communicate with your phone, other cars, your home, your bed, your office, your office chair and even petrol station. In this scenario this is what happens:
While this may seem like ages to come but we cannot sit still as a nation and wait for change to come to us.We must take action to bring the change that we want and be the change we want.
WHERE CAN TANZANIA START IN THE 4th IR?
As complex and huge as it may seem it can be done?We must start some where and as a firm believer in the power of knowledge sharing I can say with full confidence that we have to start with education. Not the conventional education system.NO.We must start with the change in education one student at a time, one school at time, one village at time until the whole nation becomes what we envision. We must dedicated resource towards this noble goal, financial resources, intellectual resources as well as political will.YES political will to build our future Nation.
WHAT TYPE OF EDUCATION CAN WE GIVE OUR CHILDREN?
Education is about exposure. We must expose our children to the future. We can not have a kind of education system that provides people who can not self sustain. An education system that provides education to graduates who can not sustain themselves intellectually,Graduates who can not thinki independently,We must change that not from the Colleges and Universities but from the EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION.
What we teach our children from the the early ages to the late teen has a great impact on the kind of person that they become. We must look at the number of schooling years, the modes, the preparation of our teachers and other key aspects of our education including our education policy. We must ask our selves the following question and provide ourselves with honest answers?
WHAT IS A TYPICAL WORK PLACE OF THE FUTURE IN TANZANIA?
As a nation we must ask our selves of where people will be working at in the future? Will they be in farms?in the banks? In hospitals,In schools. Will majority of our workforce be remote.Where will our people be working?what will their living conditions be?We need to know that now.
If our people will be working int the farms what will their working conditions be?what level of technology be in the farms and who will be developing the technology?how much value will it add in farming?will it be affordable?
If our people will e working in other white collar jobs or in the government what will be their condition of work. How much will they earn. How much value will their create. How fulfilled will they be with their life. What about the remote work force and the self employed. What type of business will they be doing? Will they adding values to agriculture products?will they be in mining?where exactly will they be working and how will they earning power be.
Will have a sustainable community?A sustainable nation?Or we will leave everything to chance.
HOW CAN WE LEAP FROG TO THE 4TH IR AS A NATION?
This is the Big question? How can we as a Nation LEAP FROG THE FUTURE?I cannot claim to have an answer everything and I believe this question warrants a serious discussion of everyone.SO I will give my opinions bellow.

- A Car is always aware of how far the next Petrol station is and if the fuel in the Car is enough to get you there?
- A Car is aware when you leave the bed and it calls your phone to ask if your planning to go anywhere and if you answer yes it starts preparing for the journey by planning the routs etc
- When your car is on the way home it communicates with the gates, the doors, even the cooking robot to prepare your favourite meal.
- You can send your car driver less to collect items,to do shopping in the supermarket and bring you goodies. It communicates with the supermarket robot and much more
- Your Car is connected to your office and what ever happens there it keeps track,it has an inbuilt telephone and records your call and emails and can read them to you as it drives you to work.Yes and Your car can even draft sample responses and even advice you based on how you have responded in the past.

- What was the bench mark of an educated Tanzanian 30 years ago and how was it compared to global standards as well as the developed Nations
- What is our modal education system and how does it align with our national development agenda?
- What changes have occurred in our education system and how has that impacted our human capital
- Is our education meeting the market demand for producing educated people as to meet the human capital requirements of business, government, communities and the world?
- Of the the top 100 skills in high demand which are currently in demand globally which do we excel in?
- Are we aware of the current and future skills gap in the market place and is our education system capable of addressing the issue?

- As I pointed above we have to start with education.YES education is the KEY
- Secondly we must have ZONES/HUB for each value are,EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY ZONES,AGRICULTURE ZONES,INDUSTRIAL ZONES,HEALTH ZONES,COMMERCIAL AND FINANCE ZONES we can establish other zones based on needs but personally I trust that having zones in that Category can help support other value areas since these five zones can support other values areas and crucial to the functioning economic and society
- The government must be impartial and yet fair.Laws and Regulation should focus to encourage growth and protect consumers and infringements of rights of others
- There has to be a honest unbiased discussion about the future of our country.
