President Samia Suluhu Hassan has launched a commision for accessing and coming up with appropriate recommendations in aid to improve the criminal justice system in Tanzania.

With the National Prosecution Services (NPS), the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), the Prisons, the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) altogether with the Police Tanzania being put under the microscope of the newly assembled commision prior the final report to be submitted late May this year.

This bold move by President Samia is expected to put an end to the echoing cries from groups that had being victims of the weaknesses and misbehaviours brought about by the loopholes of the existing structure of the criminal justice system.

"There are people who are fearful of the police and court buildings even though such buildings are for them to go for justice. If you think there is an area where laws have to be ammended due to our current times then recommend so".

President Samia has been vocal into encouraging law amendments as a tool to heal the chronic wounds resulting from aged law sets and structures that does not match the country's current and dynamic demands for its people.

Various groups from the political arena have been vocal to emphasize on the need to have a new constitution referencing the current state of our criminal justice system as one of the setback towards reaching country development goals as it badly pinches human rights in Tanzania, but it seems Madam President could not wait any longer at her office for all that time.

On 20th July last year, upon swearing in of the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura, President Samia had earlier formed a committee to investigate perfomances of all security forces, saying that.

"I have assembled this committee to advise me on the how best to bring changes in performances of our criminal justice system"

That said, it is wide clear now that President Samia Suluhu Hassan sails Tanzania towards a better approach for the improved criminal justice system for the country as a milestone towards execution of the 4R's policy she engages in in spearheading the country towards national development.

It is not about a system but who operates and manages it. As long as human beings are selfish there will be no effective system

Her self is among people who make judicial system being toothless and immoral, how would it be possible to have a free judiciary while its higher officers are appointed by the president,i think the first thing was to absorb the presidential power to appoint judges, then others to follow
