The Curse of Salvation
This is a story of cursed salvation
Call it the curse of salvation
It sets a stage for what is to come
It reconstructs the whole scene
When things were serene
Everything starts with a pink man
It is at the time when,
He came and met our ancestors
They welcomed him cordially
He treated them uncouthly
The pink man came with his mission of destruction
He came hell bent to destroy our civilisation
All in all,
He shamelessly came to ruin everything
Once upon a time,
There came a pink man
Precisely, he came from Europe
He came with his two-pronged mission
He brought colonisation and occupation
The two are tactically interwoven
They define and defend each other
And above all,
They redefine and defuse everybody
For the first time in their civilisation,
Africans heard of individualisation
They heard of inquisition
The heard of human molestation
Their Ubuntu and unity were set asunder
His mission verily brought ruin to Africa
His arrival brought slavery and religion
The two forces that made Africans miserable
It all revolved around the scramble
They hinged on partition and division
Yes
This is a never-ending scramble for Africa
It marked the beginning of our perpetual suffering
Africa and its people lost almost everything
When the pink man arrived,
Our Kings and Queens were overwhelmed
Poor them,
They wrongly thought he’s an honest man
They sought to create trade relationship
In the end,
They ended up in hardship
They were called chimps
The imps called them savages
The pink man invaded Africa
He duped our Kings and Queens
He gave them some papers
He called them agreements
They signed bogus contracts
Through which Africa and Africans were sold
After signing their dubious treaties
They’re promised cooperation and salvation
Had they known it was a curse!
This is the curse that made their lives worse
They would not have signed such treaties
After we were betrayed,
The pink man killed our leaders
He took the power they had
He set everything in motion
We wrongly thought he was honest
He hid his dishonesty
He hid his debauchery
The one we wrongly thought was honest
We later learn he’s a dubious man
Lies became pink man’s biggest weapon
With his agents, they took everything over
Before we could discover,
He’d already enslaved Africans
He had completely colonised Africa!
The pink man was besotted about Africa
He craved its riches
He gobbled its goodies
He violated its morals
He robbed its bounteousness
Of all, he exploited its innocence
He rode on its generosity
He turned it into imbecility
Everything became topsy-turvy
The pink man partitioned our continent
He created our modern feeble states
He created our fickle polity
He deemed it the Dark Continent
Is it really a dark continent?
If Africa and Europe are compared,
Which continent is darker than another?
Europe has tortuous winters
Africa has wonderful patterns of weather
The duo is incomparable
Though the man was naturally pink,
He said he was white!
The whiteness he praised
It became his new identity
He redefined everybody
Racism became his instrument
All of the sudden,
The pink man became white
His agent also became conspirators
Their god too became white
Everything holy became white
Religious statues became white
They whitened everything of theirs
And blackened everything of ours
Angels became white
Seraphs became white
The devil became black
Sin became black
Yet,
He confused himself
He said everything is made in the image of god
Everything white was made sacred
All of ours became scary
The impure became pure
And the pure became impure
This is what we call transfiguration
