Here's the score: Cases from April 2018. dailyactive.info/index.php/2019/03/14/which-is-the-most-corrupt-tribe-noordin-haji-spills-the-beans/
My take:
Population distribution in Kenya is roughly as follows: Kikuyus (22%), Luhyas (14%), Luos (13%), Kalenjins (12%), Kambas (11%), Merus (6%), Indian and Other Asian (0.1%), Arab (0.1%), White European (<0.1%), Other African Tribes and Other Groups Not Listed (21%). Among those not listed the Kisiis have a large percentage.
The fact that the Kalenjins have outsmarted the Luhyas and Luos in corruption epitomizes the Kalenjins' access to power by way of their tribesmen, Ruto being the countrie's Vice Presedent and historically in Moi's Presidency. The Kikuyus taking the lead is inevitable...
This is just an overview of the bigger picture - what I always refer to as the Kenyan conundrum [tribalism + greed + corruption + consumerism + prestige]
=====
Is war against corruption a political thing or targeting a particular community? Noordin Haji clears the air.
Speaking on Jeff Koinange’s show, JKL, Noordin Haji dismissed allegations made by DP Ruto and Tanga Tanga allies that investigation is targeting Kalenjins.
He brought along a file that contained the aggregated corruption numbers based on ethnic lines in response to accusations by some politicians that his office was targeting a particular tribe.
” I don’t want it to look like I’m getting this numbers from my head, these are our statistics of accused persons by ethnic tribes,” he disclosed.
In the list, the tribe with the most number of corruption cases in the period as revealed by the DPP were the Kikuyu with 141 cases, while Embu registered the least with just 5.
The Kalenjins came third with 46 cases in just one year. This was indication that fight against corruption is for greater good.
