But few know about it.

Here's what it is (and why you should care):

In 1964, a Columbia University Professor publishes an article.

It becomes one of the most powerful frameworks for measuring the durability of ideas.

The crazy part?

It all started in a deli...

Dr. Albert Goldman was hanging at Lindy's Deli in NYC:

Lindy's was where all the actors & comics hung out.

The "cigar-chomping" comics hollered and gossiped.

Goldman had no choice but to listen.

Most of the chatter was nonsense

But then something caught his attention...

"What makes a Broadway show successful?"

The actors jabbered back and forth

And came to a conclusion...

They realized that shows lasting 100 days on Broadway

Were expected to last another 100 days.

And shows lasting 200 days

Were expected to last another 200!

Goldman was fascinated by the idea

And published an article about it titled "Lindy's Law"

Little did he know

His subtle observation provided a framework to quantify anti-aging and longevity for years to come...

~50 years later, Nassim Nicholas Taleb coins the term "Lindy Effect"

While describing the longevity of the world's greatest books:

"If a book has been in print for forty years, I can expect it to be in print for another forty years."

Simply put, the Lindy Effect states:

The longer an idea has lasted

The greater likelihood it will continue to last.

By understanding the Lindy Effect

We can identify time-tested methods for:

Nimesoma mkuu sijaelewa chochote.... Labda ungeleta kwa summary kwa lugha adhimun, lugha mama, lugha kuntu ya kiswahili.

Kuna vitu vingine lazima utumie nguvu kuelewesha mtu[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]!

Ninesoma! Ni maneno ya kiingereza ila nimejitahi kuelewa ulicho maanisha na sijatoka na kitu

1. Create a Routine

Highly effective people have created and executed daily routines for decades.

Take Benjamin Franklin for example...

(his daily routine in the photo)

If you want to be successful, create a daily routine and follow it religiously.

2. Squat, Deadlift, & Press

Humans have been squatting, deadlifting, and pressing since our existence:

• Squatting to pick something up
• Lifting a child from the ground
• Pressing something overhead

If you want to live longer, start completing basic, functional movements.

3. Eat Healthy Oils & Fats

Humans have been eating butter, tallow, and olive oil for years.

If you want to live longer, eat healthy fats that have been around for thousands of years!

Rather than chemically refined seed oils, like canola oil.

These oils have been linked to widespread health and environmental issues.

Yet, they're in everything we eat.

(a thread on this later)

4. Eat Local Produce & Meats

Our ancestors only ate what they grew, raised, caught, & sometimes traded for.

If you want to optimize your health, eat locally sourced foods

Rather than foods imported thousands of miles away.

I recently joined a CSA (community-supported agriculture)

• 1x per week we get 24 organic, pasture-raised eggs
• Every other week, we get a massive bag of local produce

It's been the best investment we've made in a while.

5. Eat (Real) Food

There's a trend towards eating lab-developed protein

These products are packed with "Expeller-Pressed Canola Oil"

We weren't meant to consume highly-processed, lab-developed, garbage.

Eat the real thing, or don't eat it at all.

6. Diversify Your Investments

Wealthy people have diversified their investments for thousands of years.

If you want to build wealth, diversify your investments among stocks, bonds, cash, crypto, real estate, etc.

Rather than investing in one asset class.

7. Drink Tea & Coffee

Humans have been getting energy from tea & coffee for centuries...

• Tea since 200 BC
• Coffee since the 1500s

If you want to optimize your health, drink tea & coffee for energy

Rather than sugar-packed energy drinks or energy alternatives.

8. Read Old Books

The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith...

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius...

On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin...

These books have been around for decades!

If you want to get smarter, read books that have stood the test of time.

9. Intermittent Fast

Humans have been intermittently fasting for centuries!

Our ancestors didn't have on-demand food as we do.

They often lived in a fasted state

Reaping the many rewards of fasting.

If you want to live longer, consider experimenting with fasting.

For 2 years, I was a hardcore intermittent faster.

But then I realized that my digestion was all messed up.

I spoke with an expert about it and this is what he recommended:

3 to 4, 20hr fasts per week.

Ever since I started doing that, my digestion has improved significantly.

10. Eat Healthy Carbs

Humans have been eating rice, wheat, oats, corn, and potatoes for centuries.

If you want to improve your health, focus on eating healthy carbs.

(in moderation)

Rather than ultra-processed junk produced by "Big Food".

11. Work Like a Lion

We live in a capitalistic world that primarily rewards people based on their time spent working.

But that's not how we were designed to work.

Humans weren't meant to work like cows; grazing grass for 40 hrs/week.

We were designed to work like lions; chasing down prey for hours or days and then resting.

Work in sprints and take educated risks.

It's the most efficient, effective, and fulfilling way to work.

12. Follow a Consistent Sleep Schedule

Our bodies look to the sunrise and sunset to keep our circadian rhythms aligned.

We weren't meant to wake up before the sun goes up or go to bed after the sun has gone down!

Technology enables us to work 24/7...

But that's not what our bodies want.

Our bodies need high-quality sleep.

Aim to wake and sleep with the sunrise and sunset.

13. Walk

Developments in transportation have made humans far too sedentary.

We weren't meant to be able to have the luxury of ubering everywhere.

We were designed to use our legs to get places.

If you have the luxury of walking to your destination, walk.

These are 13 ways to improve your life with Lindy-backed ideas.
