Dk 86. Still no sign of a City equaliser - Norwich looking very compact and repelling City's every attack with ease. Still time though.

dk 90. There will be three minutes of stoppage time to find an equaliser. Looking like it's going to be a losing end to the season. Unless..

dk 90+1: In fact it's Norwich who should have scored - Tettey fights his way through the City defence and fires inches wide

Nasri throws support behind Pellegrini

Samir Nasri believes departing Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini would be an ideal fit for Manchester City. The Chilean coach is the number one candidate to replace the sacked Roberto Mancini at Eastlands.

But while Nasri was unwilling to talk about transfer targets, he does believe Pellegrini, who guided Villarreal to the Champions League semi- finals in 2005/06 and was seconds away from repeating the feat with Malaga this season, would be a shrewd appointment. "The club is going to let us know as soon as they sign someone, but for the moment it's just talk," Nasri told Goal.com. "If it is (Pellegrini), it's a good fit. In the Champions League, he's always had success with Villarreal or Malaga.

The way his teams play, it's always attractive and that's what we need at Manchester City." Nasri was rumoured to have fallen out with former City boss Roberto Mancini after the Italian criticised his player in public, but he admitted that his departure was 'sad'. "It's a bit difficult, but this season we had big expectations," he said. "We didn't achieve anything. We just qualified for the Champions League.

"It was Mancini who brought me to Manchester City, so it's sad. But that's football. Before I was at Manchester City, when I was at Marseille, I had five different managers... that's football." And the 25-year-old stated his desire to stay at Eastlands, despite recent links to French champions Paris Saint-Germain. "Yeah, of course (I would like to stay)," he said. "You know (the rumours), that's just talk.

In Paris now, you have new owners and they just won a title in France, so the media will talk about it. But I'm really happy in Manchester. I'm looking forward to next season." Thinking ahead to 2013/14, the former Arsenal man is hoping for a title challenge and more luck in the Champions League, following two successive exits at the group stage.

"Next year we won't have any excuses," Nasri said. "At some points, we had a lack of experience. We can have all of the talent in the world but you can't buy experience." "To be honest, we were unlucky two times with the (Champions League) draw. In the group stage, to play (Borussia) Dortmund and Real Madrid is a bit difficult.

"But a team like Manchester City should expect to go on to the finals of the Champions League. I hope that next year, we are going to do it."

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has played down talk surrounding a transfer to either Chelsea or Manchester City this summer
The Uruguayan international has been heavily linked with a move away from Italy, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also reported to be keen on the 26-year-old forward.

However, Cavani insists he is happy with life in Naples, and is fully focused on continuing to grow and improve as a player in Serie ‘A'.
But, the former Palermo star did admit that he would speak to the club president if an enticing offer for his services came in.
"Real Madrid, Chelsea and (Manchester) City are interested in me? I just think about Napoli," he told Ovacion Digital.
"If an important offer were to come in, I will talk with president (Aurelio) De Laurentiis.
"I'm fine in Italy, I have grown as a man there and as a player with the Serie A experience."
Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers in recent weeks, despite the lack of a permanent manager at Stamford Bridge following Rafa Benitez's departure.
The Blues are light in the position, with Fernando Torres and Demba Ba the only senior options available in west London.
And, Cavani would add some serious strength to the Chelsea attack if he were to join, having notched 38 times in all competitions last term.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are another club keen to strengthen up-front this summer despite the lack of a permanent manager at the Etihad Stadium.
Mario Balotelli's exit in January means the Citizens have a potential spot to fill alongside Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.
Cavani wouldn't be the cheapest option, but Manchester City would have no problem finding the cash to bring the 47-cap international to the club.

Aguero to Goal: "I'm committed to Manchester City, it's a great club. I'm happy to be part of a club that is growing so fast." #MCFC

[h=4]Already eagerly-anticipating the 2013/14 curtain raiser, we examine City's record on Premier League opening day…[/h] At 9am BST on Wednesday, mcfc.co.uk will reveal who the Blues will face on the first weekend of the 2013/14 league campaign, and if the last two years are anything to go by we can expect a high scoring game!

A dramatic 3-2 victory over newly-promoted Southampton was on the menu last year, while the Blues kicked off the title-winning season by beating Swansea 4-0.

We didn't always have it so good! The Blues didn't record a win on a Premier League opening day until the 2003/04 season, when finally the curse seemed broken as Kevin Keegan's men put three past Charlton Athletic without reply.

City had already made six attempts to get their Premier League season off to a flyer, but had recorded three draws and three losses, as well as spending five opening days outside the top flight.

It was the first of five victories recorded on the first weekend after the long summer, and City are now unbeaten in their last four opening day games – last suffering start of the season nerves in 2008, when Aston Villa won an entertaining match 4-2 at Villa Park.

The Blues' first ever game in the Premier League was also the first ever Monday night fixture broadcast live on Sky. The country looked on – via their television sets – as City and QPR drew 1-1 in 1992.

A change to the back pass rule also coincided with the formation of the Premier League, preventing goalkeepers from picking the ball up if a teammate had intentionally kicked it back to them.

That message didn't appear to have got through to Blues stopper Tony Coton, who picked up a back pass early on, although fortunately the referee allowed play to continue.

More recently, seven of City's 20 opening day goals in the Premier League era have come in the last two years – so let's hope Blues fans are cheering a few more strikes as we kick off 2013/14!

[h=4]Memorable moments that happened on this day in City's history...[/h] [h=3]Thursday 18 June 1987[/h] Tony Adcock signs from Colchester for £175,000 – a further sign of how far the Blues had slipped in terms of available finances and attracting star names. A striker of average ability, Adcock tried hard but was never going to be the sort of player to help the club back to the Promised Land. He at least wrote his name into the history books when he scored one of three hat-tricks during an unforgettable 10-1 win over Huddersfield Town in November 1987, yet just two months later having played 15 times for the Blues, Adcock was sold on to Northampton Town.

What media says..

[h=4]Possibly the most exciting midfield talent in Europe has hinted there are only two clubs he is thinking about joining this summer – and will reveal his decision in a week's time.[/h] The Malaga star has lit up the Under-21 Championships in Israel over the past few days, leaving City fans drooling at the prospect of a David Silva, Jesus Navas and Isco forming an irresistible trio behind the Blues' strikers.
But, as with everything in life, it's not quite as simple as that – not when Real Madrid are the other team courting the youngster.
With Madrid players bending Isco's ear in Israel, it looks like the proposed transfer could go either way.
John Percy in the Daily Telegraph writes: "It will require a fee of £30million to prise the 21-year-old Isco from his Spanish club and Pellegrini has made him a priority target after his appointment as City manager was confirmed officially on Friday.
"Real are also long-term admirers and could rival City in the chase to sign the exciting midfielder.
Isco said: "Those [Alvaro Morata, Nacho and Daniel Carvajal] indeed are the guys insisting [for the move to Real Madrid]. We'll see what happens. I try to draw the line there. We have the [European] Under-21 final and need to focus all five senses on that now.
"City or Madrid? I can't say. Pellegrini is a great coach, though, of that there is no question."
Pellegrini, who will be unveiled as manager at City when the Premier League runners-up of last campaign return to pre-season training, signed Isco from Valencia in 2011 and played a pivotal part in nurturing him to emerge as one of Spain's most coveted young talents.
"City have already signed Fernandinho and Jesus Navas this summer and the club's chief executive, Ferran Soriano, has promised further "expensive" recruits."
Fingers crossed on that one, then!
Elsewhere, Here Is the City have picked up on a Sergio Aguero tweet in which the darling of the Etihad claims his heart is red – but worry not – it's not that shade of red he's talking about!
Writes Nash: "(The tweet is) not because of a secret affinity for Manchester United; but because his beloved Independiente suffered relegation from Argentina's Primera Division this weekend.
"Panic over Manchester City fans? After reading the sidebar you should now be well aware that Aguero was not talking about great city rivals Manchester United when he expressed this passionate Tweet on Saturday evening.
"Roughly translated the Tweet reads: "I said it when it happened to River Plate and reiterate it today. The big ones always come back! Always red in my heart. Today more than ever."
"Indeed the Argentine striker was instead showing his passion for former club Independiente; and with good reason to; because his former side have been relegated for the first time in their 108-year history after a 1-0 defeat against San Lorenzo."
Never doubted it!
