Nasri: Liverpool defence was ´shaking´
Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has taken a lightly veiled swipe at Premier League leaders Liverpool. Nasri's City are in the box seat to shatter Liverpool's hopes of a drought-breaking league title, after the Reds lost 2-0 to third-in-line Chelsea on Sunday. However, the Frenchman reflected on Liverpool's important 3-2 win over Manchester City at Anfield earlier in April, claiming Brendan Rodgers' men lacked defensive grit. "I saw the reaction when Liverpool were winning 2-0 and they were amazing," Nasri said. "But in the second half we came back and scored twice and they were shaking at the back. "They were really scared. We had that chance to score the third goal. Then there was a mistake and they won. "But I could see they were not as confident as it looks. "I was sure at some point they would slip and that's what happened." Furthermore, Nasri suggested Liverpool look more likely to drop points than second-placed Chelsea, despite the majority of pundits viewing the title chase as a race in two, with the Blues requiring both their rivals to slip up. "No, we can't afford to drop any more (points)," Nasri said. "Something could happen for Liverpool at Palace, but I don't see Chelsea having another a bad result. "I don't rule Chelsea out though Jose Mourinho has been doing that. "All I want to think about is us winning our games and being champions. I don't want to think about Mourinho or Brendan Rodgers."

City0…7s league fate 0…7a miracle0…7 - Nasri

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri said it is 'a miracle' his side remain in the box seat to win the Premier League title. After Manuel Pellegrini's men lost to Liverpool 3-2 at Anfield in a pulsating encounter, the Reds had taken their title fate into their own hands with a seven-point buffer on City, who had two games in hand. However, Liverpool's 2-0 loss at home to Chelsea saw their 11-match winning streak ended, and City's league hopes safely back in their control. Wins over Everton (fifth), Aston Villa (16th) and West Ham (14th) will secure City their second premiership in three seasons, although Nasri said it is now imperative they take the chance that unexpectedly fell their way. "Now we cannot hide anymore. We are three games away. We have to play like champions and show we deserve it," the Frenchman said. "We have to understand that now we are in this position, it's a miracle. We thought that Chelsea would beat Sunderland (in April) ¨C they didn't. "We thought Chelsea would go to Liverpool with a second team and lose - but they won. "Now that we are here, it doesn't matter where we are playing, we have to get a result and win it because it's a miracle we are still here. "We have a league to win. We cannot fail. "People say we are the favourites. But we have to win our games and the next one is really tough. We have our fate in our own hands and that's most important." Nasri said his side did not have to delve too deeply into the memory to recall a favourite falling when they were expected to win. "It's hard to be the favourites and win it. Look at Bayern Munich in the Champions League. They were the favourites but got smashed at home by Real Madrid. "When Liverpool were the favourites, they lost to Chelsea. When Chelsea were favourites, they lost to Sunderland. "Maybe it's better to be in behind then at the end sneak out and win it. That's the best way."

14 min: Everton are defending dangerously deep, already the back four are already entrenched on their 18-year-line. Toure cuts in from the left along the edge of the box and only has little Osman to hold off, which he does with ease. A curling effort, similar to the one he scored at Palace with his left, flies just over. An R2 finish for all your PS2 Pro-Evo gamers out there. Cue grimacing and swearing. From Toure that is.

12 min: I'm still in shock but onwards we plod. That bit of magic has lifted the crowd and the team, they are winning the 50/50s. Toure shying out of a challenge (!) with Stones.

Simply stunning. The ball runs free on the edge of City's box and it falls to Barkley. First time, he curls it from 25 years out. Hart didn't get close - the height, dip, curl, swerve. Ooooo that's ruddy delicious.
GNev: "Barkley didn't read the script"
