Pope Clement VII was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 19 November 1523 to his death on 25 September 1534. Clement VII, original name was Giulio de’ Medici, born May 26, 1478 in Florence, Italy. An illegitimate son of Giuliano de’ Medici, brother to the famous Lorenzo Medici, The Magnificent.
