Wondering if the east africa community will ever be a success if we as citizens have all these differences
It will not be a success and personally i think, Kenya is better off making bilateral deals with Uganda, DRC, ethiopia, south sudan than trying to stay in the eac.
It is working with Ugandans not needing to pay work permit fees in Kenya and free movement of labor and capital between Nairobi and Kampala.
The same is being negotiated with ethiopia and all indications are it will be a success after the joint projects we are undertaking are complete like the Moyale Joint City.
Also the only eac country that Kenya trades with heavily is Uganda. Kenya exports more to Pakistan, united states, UK and Netherlands than we export to Tanzania (our exports to Tanzania match our exports to the united arab emirates at 4.4%). We import more from Uganda(sugar, fish, milk, grains etc) than we export to them, and also other import partners are China, India, Japan, UK,saudi arabia, united arab emirates, united states, mexico(mostly grains like wheat, maize etc),Brazil. Note Tanzania is not at the top of our export or import partners.
Tanzania and Kenya are like water and oil, we have irreconcilable differences not just economically but also socially. That is why it will not work out.
The founding ideologies of these two countries are starkly different like night and day. We are more of friendly enemies than allies.
