The King of Toro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru, the "world's youngest king" who turned 18 on 17th April 2010, succeeded to the throne at the age of three years when his father died of a heart attack in 1995. However, he could only be crowned upon reaching adulthood. Accordingly this happened on Saturday 17th April 2010 in a traditional ceremony in his hilltop palace overlooking his capital of Fort Portal.
His symbolic authority covers the area known as the Mountains of the Moon, which straddles the borders of Uganda and the DR Congo. He currently rules more than two million people in the Toro kingdom.
