There is an ignorant class of critics who are convinced that the shape of the train determines the value of the project. They are the ones throwing around the word "bullet trains" and they are clearly incapable of telling the difference between a shunter and the DF11 variants passenger locomotives. These passenger trains are upper mid tier trains, and they are very common in China. They are perfectly capable of handling traffic on the SGR and the fact that they form the first batch of trains for this route does not mean that they will not be updated in the future. Once the line is electrified, we will see true high-speed trains plying the SGR. I have used the DF11 class, and it is a treat and a long overdue change for the Kenyan transportation sector.
