=======
Police in Thika is holding a woman who allegedly sold her day-old baby boy to a child trafficker for Sh50,000.
The new mother is believed to have given up her child after delivering at a private clinic in Thika town. The incident took place on July 26.
The woman's husband said he got suspicious when she told him the baby died immediately after birth.
"I did not believe her story and that's when I started investigating. When I visited the hospital they told me my wife delivered successfully and was discharged a day later with the baby."
Thika children's officer Lina Mwangi said the woman went to the hospital with an accomplice named Wamaitha Muya.
Detectives arrested the mother at her rural home in Western where she had fled to when her husband's suspicions grew.
The child was traced to Ruaraka where the "buyer' was arrested.
The couple's other four children have been moved to a local children's home.
