Political punditry in this country is dead wrong to reduce this historical election on personalities because it has never been so. This historical election is part of wind of change sweeping across Africa aiming to dismantle for good our long held shackles with Uhuru securing political parties which have behaved more devilish upon their own people than the colonial masters they had replaced.
In the sixtees, a political wind of change vanquished most of colonial reigns as we quested more freedom to manage our own destiny as Africans, and what is reverberating across this nation right now reminisces what was happening then.
It is simplistic to reduce the forthcoming election as a choice of personalities between Ukawa super heavy weight presidential nominee Edward Lowassa and a ccm lightweight Magufuli. Well to be frank it is not about them; at all, but it is ccm decadent governance under the dock.
You can switch the presidential candidates between those two major political parties, and still get the same results. That if Magufuli was UKAWA presidential flag bearer he will have been a crowds puller and vice versa for Lowassa.
So, it is pertinent that we refuse to be swayed by cheap yet misleading analysis that aims to stoop this election into personality infighting rather than a decisive referendum on ccm half a century of gross mismanagement of our socio- economic welfare.
Massive unemployment and underemployment while cost of living is skyrocketing at alarming rates is what is stoking the ccm discontent. This is what is in the minds of young, agitated voters who believe UKAWA is ccm antidote though not its panacea of the painful ills ccm system of social injustice has inflicted upon us.
So let us be sober on this that ccm is on the dock, and Magufuli only epitomizes the rot in it but nothing else.
