1. Health
You can almost never go wrong with the health industry--who wouldn't want to be fitter, faster, and stronger, after all? At $21.8 billion, this industry ranks first in terms of 2013 revenue. With a 135 percent three-year growth rate, it isn't the fastest-growing, but in 2013, it was the biggest.

2. IT Services
IT services may sound like a boring meat-and-potatoes sector, but considering that all of the Inc. 5000-listed IT companies made a combined $19.3 billion in revenue last year, they must be anything but bored. The industry's three-year revenue growth rate is 122 percent.

3. Business Products and Services
The business products and services industry takes home the bronze medal this year with a 2013 combined revenue of $18 billion. Anything enterprise-focused is a good bet--companies will always need chairs, computers, and supplies. The recession may have hurt the industry's three-year growth rate, which stands at 93 percent.

4. Energy
The energy industry grew by 168 percent between 2010 and 2013 and brought in $17.5 billion in combined revenue last year.

5. Financial Services
Money management and financial services firms don't just handle money--, they're in the money too. All the financial services companies on the Inc. 5000 grew 112 percent, with revenues of $17.2 billion in 2013.

6. Human Resources
Human Resources is in charge of many vital functions for growing companies--especially recruiting, hiring, and benefits administration. So it makes sense that the industry is booming. With a three-year revenue growth rate of 112 percent, every Inc. 5000 HR company combined brought in $12.3 billion last year.

7. Logistics and Transportation
Think about why Uber is so successful--it removes the annoying logistics from hailing a taxi. It's the same reason drones are causing so much excitement in the delivery space. Companies that reduce friction or remove the entire task in the logistics and transportation industry make a killing and are the reason the sector made a collective $11.1 billion last year.

8. Consumer Products and Services
Consumer products and services is the fastest-growing industry on the Inc. 5000, but ranks only eighth among the 10 biggest industries. But the $10.7 billion in revenue that the sector reeled in last year isn't anything to sniff at. The competition can be fierce, however.

9. Construction
Construction took a big hit during the recession, but still managed to grow 88 percent over the last three years and brought in $10.3 billion.

10. Telecommunications
Telecommunications is the 10th most profitable industry on the Inc. 5000. In total, all the telecom companies on this year's list brought in $9.4 billion in revenue.
