A Chinese tour guide at the Keekorok Lodge in the world renowned wildlife conservancy Maasai Mara in Narok County Monday night stabbed and killed a Chinese tourist following a scuffle over a dining table.

The tour guide and a Chinese couple had argued about the occupancy of the dining table with the guide insisting that he usually sat at that table.

He then brought out a knife which he used to attack the couple.

The woman, who was stabbed twice in her chest and ribs succumbed to the injuries as she was being rushed to a nearby health centre.

The husband survived with injuries.

More than 100 tourists, who were having dinner and witnessed the incident, scampered for safety, screaming as they rushed out of the dining hall.

Narok County Police Commander Jillo Galgalo confirmed the incident which happened at 7:30pm (1630 GMT) Monday night.

Husband flown to Nairobi

The police boss confirmed that the woman’s husband was Tuesday morning flown to Nairobi Hospital for treatment.

Mr Galgalo said the attacker was arrested and was being held at the Narok Police Station.

A police officer who attended to the matter, but who requested not to be named, said the tour guide had asked the couple to vacate the dining table for him but they declined.

He had argued that it was his usual sitting place at the lodge, the officer said.

“He told them that he could not use any other table and they had to leave and when they refused, he started attacking them using a knife that he was carrying,” he said.

The lodge’s management was Tuesday holed up in a meeting and said they would issue a statement later in the day.

It is pity our neighbors that claim to be professionals on any field resort to attacking a guest. It is high time for every right minded tourist to avoid visiting Kenya since insecurity is at everywhere from the flight, streets to sleeping rooms to dining table. May God protect all the tourists visiting Kenya..!

This was a 100% chinies affair, the incident would have happened whether they were on a tour in zimbabwe, maldeves, costa rica.......
The chinies tourist numbers are increasing by the day visiting kenya, deal with it

They came over from China with some personal beef, and it exploded while on tour in Kenya. But geza thinks a Kenyan tour guide went berserk and stabbed the poor tourists. Sick men.

Travel agents bring over tourists from their home countries to tour in Kenya. Nothing strange there. They tour, then all head back home, hopefully returning with a new batch of tourists. Japanese tourists notably are very fond of this type of tourism,they like to be with their own while far away from home, and preferably in large groups. Maybe this kind if tourists are hard to come by where you are, seeing as it is y'all don't have a national airline to bring them in. It was rather unfortunate that some clearly nasty disagreement between client and agent led to the loss of life of the client while on tour. Nobody said anything about the Kenyan nation being on trial, and it is certainly no Kenyan's business to know where each individual tourist is thinking or headed next. Get in touch with the tour company from China for an explanation about their crazy employee, and not the Kenyan people or govt. Try very hard geza but you won't succeed in your anti kenyan crusade while we are here on God's good planet.

The CNN wouldnt report that matter in the manner u are having in mind. This was a violence by a Chinese against another Chinese on the Kenyan soil. And that it happened in Kenya is all that Kenya has to do with this unfortunate matter.
Now imagine the recent Koffi Olomide saga, the Congolese had been having their squabbles from their point of departure in their journey to Kenya.......and their feud culminates in that unfortunate incident we saw at the JKIA, the Kenya should be faulted for the issue. It is absurd.

Kenyans don't owe geza an explanation. Let the police deal with the matter : it's a criminal offence by a foreigner that happened on kenyan soil. However, he's the sort that puts placards on kenyans to publicly embarrass them seeing as he's the undisputed no. 1 anti kenyan xenophobe on JF. The end justifies his means.

A Chinese tour guide stabbed and killed a tourist who was visiting Kenya's famed Maasai Mara Game Reserve after an argument over the seating arrangement for dinner, police and a lodge manager said on Tuesday.

John Kiruti, manager of Keekorok Lodge, which is within the park, said the woman, also a Chinese citizen, sustained serious chest injuries in the incident late on Monday and died as she was being transferred to another tourist camp for treatment. Her husband sustained serious stomach injuries.

"The tour guide who had brought three clients from his country for two nights differed with the couple ... over the sitting arrangement at dinner time," Kiruti said.

"After a brief exchange of words, he drew a knife and stabbed the two, fatally injuring the woman and injuring her husband.”

Kiruti said the couple's two children, aged nine and 12 years old, watched as the incident took place.

"The hotel staff rushed to restrain the guide. The kids are still in shock. We making plans to take them to Nairobi," he said.

Police later arrested the guide.

"We are holding him until investigations are over. It was a sad incident that is deeply regretted," Narok County Police Commander Abdi Galgalo said.
