Tume ya Kitaifa ya Haki za Binadamu nchini Kenya imetoa ripoti mpya ambayo inaonesha kuongezeka kwa idadi ya matukio ya utekaji nchini humo dhidi ya wakosoaji wa serikali
Kwenye ripoti yao ya hivi karibuni imeonesha kuwa kumekuwa na matukio ya utekaji takrbani 82 tangu maandamano dhidi ya serikali kuanza mwezi Juni.
Ripoti hiyo imedokeza kuwa kuna takribani watu 4 ambao walipotea na kwenda kusikojulikana mara baada ya watu hao ku-share picha za Rais William Ruto kwenye mitandao ya kijamii, picha ambazo zilitengenzwa kwa AI yaani Akili Mnemba zikiwa zinaonesha kumkosoa Ruto.

Tume ya haki za binadamu ilionya Alhamisi kwamba Kenya inaelekea kurudi katika "enzi za giza" za kutoweka kwa wakosoaji wa serikali.
Vitendo vya utekaji nyara na mateso kwa wapinzani vilikuwa vya kawaida chini ya utawala wa hayati Rais Daniel Moi.
"Tunapenda kuikumbusha NPS (polisi) wajibu wake wa kuwalinda Wakenya dhidi ya matendo haya ya kikatili, hasa ikizingatiwa kuwa matukio haya ya utekaji nyara yanatokea mchana kweupe, na baadhi yao yameonekana kwenye CCTV lakini bado hakuna watu waliokamatwa," alisema mwenyekiti wa tume hiyo, Roselyne Odede.

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights has raised concerns over the rising number of government critics who were apparently abducted as four people were reported missing over the weekend, bringing the total number of abductions to 82 since the anti-government protests in June.
Four social media users went missing after they shared AI-generated images of President William Ruto that were deemed offensive by supporters of the government.
The rights commission on Thursday warned that Kenya was heading back to the “dark days” of disappearance of government critics. The abduction and torture of the opposition was common under the administration of the late President Daniel Moi.
“We wish to remind the NPS (police) of its role in securing Kenyans from such violent acts, particularly noting that these abductions are happening in broad daylight, with some of them being captured on CCTV but still no arrests are taking place,” commission chairperson Roselyne Odede said.
Rights groups allege the country’s police force is behind the abductions by human rights groups - have denied involvement and said they were investigating the disappearances.
