INTRODUCTION:
Hello everyone on JamiiForums! We all know education is important, and it's great that our government helps so many students go to university with loans. But what happens after graduation?

The studies shows that there is an increase in number of university students who are graduating each year as in 2021, around 54.8 thousand students graduated from universities in Tanzania. The number increased from 48.6 thousand in the preceding year, interrupting an upward trend observed since 2017. Currently, there are 47 tertiary institutions in Tanzania and over 206 thousand students pursuing higher education courses.

The truth is there is a big problem. After university, many graduates can’t find a job. There are just not enough jobs for everyone. This means we need to think differently! Our graduates can create their own jobs and help themselves!

Problem Statement:
While the current loan program effectively addresses tuition and living expenses, many graduates face the daunting challenge of securing employment in a competitive job market. This transition period often lacks financial security, hindering graduates from pursuing entrepreneurial ventures or contributing meaningfully to the economy.

Proposed Solution: The "Graduate Boom"

I propose a one-time grant of TZS 500,000 up to 600,000 to be awarded to each university graduate upon completion of their studies. This This money is not a loan, it’s a gift to help them start their own businesses!

What does Graduate Boom mean?
The "Graduate Boom" is a simple idea. When students finish university, the government will give them TZS 500,000 up to 600,000. as a gift to help them start their own businesses! and to redece much dependence on being employed.
Imagine this: "every student who graduates from university in Tanzania receives TZS 500,000. and we are real knowing Many graduates have brilliant ideas, but they often lack the money to turn those ideas into reality. "Graduate Boom" will give them the starting capital they need to become entrepreneurs and create jobs, not just fill them.

How the program will be implemented?
1. Integration with Existing Loan Program (High Education Student Loan Board "
The Graduate Boom" can be seamlessly integrated into the existing student loan disbursement system, minimizing administrative burdens.

2. Establishing Mandatory Entrepreneurship Training:
To maximize the grant's impact, recipients could be required to undergo a short entrepreneurship and financial literacy training program. And this may be done by teaching Entrepreneurship Courses to finalists

3. Mentorship and Support Network: To encourage and Connecting graduates with established entrepreneurs, business incubators, or government support programs can enhance their chances of success.

What will be the benefits of Graduate Boom?
It will check on Unemployment
: When graduates start businesses, they become job creators, not just job seekers. This means more opportunities for everyone. So they won’t be looking for jobs anymore. They will give jobs to others

To create a Stronger economy:
Small businesses are the heart of any strong economy. “Graduate Boom” will help new businesses blossom, creating more goods and services, and boosting our country’s growth. When there are more businesses, our economy will be stronger. People will have more money and everyone will benefit.

More money for government:
When businesses make money, they pay taxes to the government. This means the government will have more money to help people.

A Safer and More Hopeful Tanzania: When young people have opportunities and a path to success, it creates a more secure and optimistic future for everyone.

Reduced Dependence on Formal Employment: The initiative encourages self-employment, relieving pressure on the formal job market and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Financial Security During Transition:The grant will offer a financial cushion during the often challenging transition from student life to professional life

Who will Get to Benefit from “Graduate Boom”?
To keep things fair and transparent, these rules will decide who gets the “Graduate Boom” opportunity:
1. Be a Tanzanian citizen.

2. Graduate with a first degree from a recognized university in Tanzania.

3. Before graduating, every student will take a practical course on starting and running a business. They’ll learn about business plans, marketing, managing money, and all the basics to set them up for success

Budgetary Implications:
While the initial financial outlay will require careful consideration, the long-term economic benefits of increased entrepreneurship, job creation, and a more self-reliant workforce far outweigh the costs.

Conclusion:
The "Graduate Boom" initiative represents a strategic investment in Tanzania's future. By empowering graduates to become entrepreneurs, we not only address the immediate challenge of youth unemployment but also lay the foundation for a more vibrant, resilient, and prosperous economy.
The "Graduate Boom" is a good idea for Tanzania. It will help our graduates, our economy, and our country. Let's make it happen!
