Title holders Tusker recovered from a goal down to beat AFC Leopards 4-2 in their Top Eight Knockout tournament quarter-finals at the Nyayo National Stadium Sunday.
And at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru, Ulinzi Stars failed to break the jinx of losing to Sony Sugar when they were eliminated 4-5 on penalty shoot-outs in the other quarter-final of the day.
Champions Tusker will face Gor Mahia while Sofapaka will take on Sony Sugar in the semi-finals following a draw conducted at Nyayo Stadium, on Sunday, soon after all quarter-final matches had been played.
Referee assaulted
In the Tusker versus Leopards clash, there was a five-minute stoppage before the end of the first half when angry Ingwe fans pelted one of the assistant referee with water bottles and stones, accusing him of poor judgement.
Lamine Dialo and Martin Kiiza scored a goal each for Ingwe, but Eugene Asike, Humphrey Mieno, Brian Osumba and Jesse Were all found the back of the net for the brewers.
Diallo gave Ingwe in the lead on 28 minute by capitalising on Patrick Kagogos rebounding effort that had crashed against the cross bar. Backed by their fans, Ingwe played with renewed confidence, only to be caught napping by Asikes 40th minute goal.
Defensive lapse
More goals from Mieno, Osumba and Were ended the contest.
At Afraha, Sony, under new coach Salim Babu, notched the opener four minutes into the second half when Marwa Chamberi capitalised on a defensive lapse to stab the ball home from the top of the box past goalkeeper Francis Ochieng.
Ulinzi cancelled the lead in the 78th minute vie Oscar Wamalwas header.
