Twerk and Selfie added to Oxford English Dictionary

Natamani na sisi tungekuwa na taasisi iliyo makini katika ukuzaji wa Kiswahili.

Yaani baada ya Miley Cyrus kukata viuno kwenye VMAs na neno 'twerk' kuwa katika midomo ya karibu media zote jamaa wameona ni muda muafaka sasa kuliingiza rasmi hilo neno kwenye kamusi.

Twerking, the raunchy dance move performed by Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMAs is among the new words added to the Oxford Dictionary of English.
Oxford Dictionaries Online said the word, borrowed from hip hop culture, had become increasingly visible in the past 12 months.
Other words such as omnishambles and selfie also made their debut in the dictionary's quarterly online update.

Remember the 1995's track by Cheeky Blakk called Twerk Something?

Wikipedia claims that "In 1993, DJ Jubilee recorded the dance tune "Do The Jubilee All" in which he chanted, "Twerk baby, twerk baby, twerk, twerk, twerk." The video for the song increased the popularity of twerking. In 1995 New Orleans-based rapper Cheeky Blakk recorded the song "Twerk Something!" a call-and-response dance song dedicated to twerking.
