President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed into law the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill.

This was after the Bill passed through both Houses of Parliament, to usher a broad range of electoral reforms.

The assent of the legislation enforces the Election Laws (Amendment) Act and the Election Offenses Act.

The Act introduces a wide range of electoral reforms including a new framework for the recruitment of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners.

"It also lays the platform for the orderly exit of the current office holders," State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said in a statement on Wednesday.

"His Excellency the President has noted with pleasure the fact that the legislation is the product of constructive and comprehensive public participation as well as a commendable exercise of bi-partisanship in both Houses of Parliament," he said.

The Head of State wishes to express his sincere hope that the treatment accorded to electoral reform law will continue throughout all Parliamentary Business and with regard to all matters of national concern.

President Kenyatta also signed into law The Kenya Regiment (Territorial force) (Repeal) Bill 2015, the Water Bill 2014, Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill 2016 and the National Government Constituency Development Fund (Amendment) Bill 2016.

every politician in kenya is dirty and raila is on the frontline of that list. remember triton saga? or the kazi kwa vijana scandal? just to name a few.

however, from multi party to new constitution and any positive reform undertaken in kenya raila was the leader or one of the leaders of all of those reform movements.

he is a great patriot most likely the biggest in post colonial kenya but i dont understand his obsession with becoming the president. he also doesnt know when the revolutionary and opposition tactics end and where governing starts. his endless pursuit of that office has tarnished his otherwise outstanding public service to our nation.

nomasana tayyip edorgan of turkey had been searching for the turkish president seat since 1987 when he was finally elected in 2002/2003 he has tripled turkish economy from about 145bn$ in 2001 to 839bn$ last year and he had many haters

I am not a fan of Raila, especially due to his hypocrisy, but I acknowledge his contribution in making the government and Jubilee mandarins tremble in fear and always on toes. Were it not for his noises, some of these guys would have ripped our country dry. They are merciless, majambazi mwanzo mwisho, especially the way he tore into Waiguru and it turned out she was hell bent in fleecing the coffers without mercy, I have since hated her like hell.

However, there was a time I believed in Raila until he became the prime minister, during his tenure, I managed to get some project at OPM and spent about two years traversing through corridors of that building and I remember vividly the kind of stuffs that were happening there. That's when I knew the fight against corruption was long lost and no one is a hero in the war, they are all hypocrites.

Kenya Mungu atulinde tu, am hoping and praying the current trend of economic activities continues without distractions, then we will be somewhere better in few years to come.
