Uvamizi wa Urusi nchini Ukraine unaweza kusababisha wimbi kubwa la wakimbizi karibu milioni 10 wanaokimbia nchi. Taarifa hiyo imetolewa na msemaji wa Umoja wa Mataifa Stephane Dujarric, aliyedai watu milioni 4 kati yao wanaweza kuingia katika nchi jirani

Kamishna wa Umoja wa Mataifa anayeshughulikia wakimbizi Filippo Grandi, ameongeza kuwa takribani watu milioni moja tayari wamekimbia vita nchini Ukraine

Takwimu rasmi zinaonyesha kuwa wakimbizi laki 575,000 wa Ukraine wameingia Poland, huku Ujerumani ikiwapokea wakimbizi wapatao 5,000, kulingana na wizara ya mambo ya ndani

Wakati huo huo utawala wa rais Joe Biden umetangaza afueni kwa raia wa Ukraine walioko Marekani dhidi ya kurudishwa katika nchi yao iliyokumbwa na vita. Raia hao sasa wataweza kusalia Marekani kwa muda wa miezi 18 chini ya mpango wa ulinzi wa muda.

Russia’s lower house of parliament has passed a law allowing authorities to imprison people for up to 15 years if they are convicted of spreading intentionally “fake” information about the country’s armed forces.

The law, which also makes calling for sanctions against Russia a criminal offence, comes as Moscow ramps up its efforts to control the domestic narrative over its war in Ukraine.

“If the fakes lead to serious consequences then imprisonment of up to 15 years threatens,” the lower house of parliament, known as the Duma in Russian, said in a statement.

I tell you today and take it from me that Russia has bitten more than it can swallow because they've invaded Ukraine when they lack the proper mechanisms to counter the potential effects emanating from their invasion.

Secondly, lack of positive progress in the course of invasion for sometime now has helped to expose the country's strategic weaknesses in the battlefield that extend to the country's failure to command air superiority something that has resulted in massively grounding the huge number of their fighter aircrafts that were set for deployment in the combat.

Thirdly, the invasion has gone a long way to prove how the Russian military has been overrated as a force to be reckoned with, when arguably, the opposite may be the truth and from now on, many countries will not have a recourse to fear the Russians any more.
