President Uhuru Kenyatta’s motorcade was on Tuesday met by a group of people picketing in London, some of whom demanded that the Head of State respect the rule of Law.
The President is in the United Kingdom for a five-day visit. His motorcade was leaving Chatham House when the demonstrators began to chant and shout slogans.
In videos posted online, some are heard chanting “Our President, our President!” while others are seen carrying placards with messages that read: “Born Kenyan, forever Kenyan”, “Respect the rule of law” and “Respect human rights”.
President Kenyatta is in London for the Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and to market Kenya as a preferred investment destination.
On Tuesday, he met the Duke of Cambridge Prince William at Buckingham Palace after opening the London Stock Exchange.
He also gave an address at Chatham House where he highlighted the significance of his handshake with Opposition leader Raila Odinga as well as Kenya’s strategic position in maintaining security in the East African region.
