Good music sells waulize Sautisol wawape maarifa

Tatizo hawajui kuimba, hahaaa.yaani haina mvuto kabisa.wakaze buti sio kuandamana tu

Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK)
60% OF TOP TEN OVERALL SPOTS TAKEN BY INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS, OUR MEDIA HOUSES NEED TO PLAY MORE OF KENYAN SONGS.
It was all good news for the MCSK and its members as the Society declared
its distribution at the same week when the Kenya Copyright Board ( KECOBO )
was renewing the MCSK license . This marked improved performance by MCSK
which complied with the terms for renewal of its license and key amongst the
terms was condition on increased distribution to members .

The MCSK has declared the delayed June 2015 SCIENTIFIC PPP distribution of
kshs 30.3 million . The declaration relates to the revenue collected between
April to June 2015 and has been apportioned using log sheets obtained from
the new monitoring system " VERICAST " as adopted by MCSK .
Secular music has regained the top position which had previously been
dominated by Gospel music with SAUTI SOL emerging as the highest earners
and most popular group during the period April to June 2015 . Closely
following SAUTI Sol was BAHATI who emerged as number two and reaffirmed the
presence of Gospel music with WILLY PAUL at number 4 . At number three was
vernacular singer LADY WANJA who is a sister to the LATE QUEEN JANE with
another vernacular singer MUM CHEROP rounding up the top five highest
earners and most popular artistes based on air play logs in Kenya for the
period APRIL to JUNE 2015 .

The full list of the top ten LOCAL ARTISTS is as follows ;
1) Sauti Sol
2) Bahati
3) Lady Wanja
4) Willy Paul
5) Mum CHEROP
6) H-Art The Band
7) Gloria Muliro
8) Rabbit " King Kaka "
9) John De Mathew
10) Hellena Ken

There were impressive NEW ENTRANTS into the top ten list such as BAHATI ,
Willy Paul , Mum CHEROP , H-Art the band , Rabbit and Hellena Ken . Further
below at number 16 was KRISTOFF who was a NEW ENTRANT into the top 20 list .

In the INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY

1.DIAMOND

2. Christina Shusho

3. Ali Kiba

4. Jose Chameleon

5. Rose Muhando

MCSK noted with concern that a majority of the radio and television stations
were broadcasting more of foreign works against the Government directive for
broadcasting of more local works .
This lead to the highest earner being non
- Kenyan ( DIAMOND ) and taking home kshs 352,807/- for the three month
period from April to June 2015 , which was more than the Kenyan highest
earners .
The combined top ten highest earners list including foreign works only had
FOUR Kenyan musicians featuring in this list as follows :

COMBINED LOCAL AND FOREIGN TOP TEN LIST
1) DIAMOND
2) SAUTI SOL ( Kenyan )
3) CHRISTINA SUSHO
4) ALI KIBA
5) BAHATI ( Kenyan )
6) LADY WANJA ( Kenyan )
7) JOSE CHAMELEON
8) ROSE MUHANDO
9) WILLY PAUL ( Kenyan )
10) KOFFI OLOMIDE

Mcsk would wish to encourage more radio and television stations to support
local musicians and broadcast the local musicians works so that we can build
our local industry even more . It is disheartening to see that only FOUR of
our Kenyan musicians were within the top ten list of radio and television
stations IN KENYA .
Mcsk would however wish to thank all Kenyan radio and television stations
for making remittances to MCSK for the broadcast royalties .
