Whats JK reading ?

Kuhani,

I beg to disagree based on what I am reading from Mr. Zakaria's new book.

The below passages from the book will speak for him

In many countries outside the Western world, there is pent-up frustration with having to accept an entirely Western or American narrative of world history - one in which they are miscast or remain bit players. Russians have long chaffed at the standard narrative oabout World War II, in which Britain and the Unites States heroically defeat the forces of fascist Germany and Japan.Given mainstream U.S historical accounts, from Stephen Ambrose to Ken Burns, Americans could be forgiven for believing that Russia played a minor part in the decisive battles against Hitler and Tojo.In fact, the eastern front was the central arena of Worl War II. It involved more land combat than all othertheaters of the war put together and resulted in thirty million deaths. It was where three quarters of all German forces fought and where Germany incurred 70 percent of its casualties. The European front was in many waysa sideshow, but in the West it is treated as the main event. As the writer Benjamin Schwarz has pointed out, Stephen Ambrose "lavishes [attention] on the U.S-British invasion ofSicily, which drove 60,000 Germans from the island, but completely ignores Kursk - the largest battle in history, in which at least 1.5 million Soviets and Germans fought, and which occurred at exactly the same time...Much as it may take us squirm, we must admit that the struggle against Nazi germany... was primarily, as the great military historian John Erickson called it, "Stalin's war.

Or consider the perspective on the same war from another spot on the map.An Indian friend explained to me, "For Britain and America, World War II is a heroic struggle in which freedom triumphs over evil, For us, it was a battle in which Britain commited India and its armed forces without bothering to consult us.London told us to die for an idea of freedom that it was at that very moment brutally denying to us

He goes on like this for some twelve more pages (I do not wish to violate the strict copyright code policed by the rather selective-enforcer GT 🙂 ) until the end of chapter three.

Clearly not one kissing up, is he?

JK was elected to LEAD not to READ

Reading informs the mind, which helps in decision making and leading.

Unless you advocate idiocracy, I cannot understand why you would not want a reading president.

I am not saying he should not read but it's not his main job. He must have read enough by the time he was elected.

Rumors has it that Mbeki was reading too much and in doing so he stumbled upon those wacky theories of HIV/AIDS being caused by poverty rather than viruses.

Does he know where he is taking us?

Does he know where he is taking us? That's a question only he can answer.

Do I know where he's taking us? Yes! Toward a more liberal society, and better life for every Tanzanian.

Jiheshimu uheshimiwe. Muungwana amesahau kujiheshimu sasa unataka wananchi tufanye nini?

You seem to entertain the idea that there is such a thing as "reading enough"

Juzi wakina Friedman walikuwa wanasema "The World is Flat" and basically advocating for globalisation na deregulation, leo katika "Hot, Flat and Crowded" wanabadili mwendo na kutuambia serikali zina role kubwa katikaq "The Green Revolution".Sasa kama wewe unaaamini kuna such a thing as "kusoma vya kutosha" unapotosha dhana nzima ya usomi.

Waliosema elimu haina mwisho hawakukosea.

with attitudes like these do we have the nerve to wonder when our leaders make a fiasco of our economy and everything else?

JK kama hasomi basi hataki tu, he has alot of time kwenye ndege! i bet kwa safari anazokwenda ingelikuwa kila safari anasoma kitabu sasa angekuwa ameshajaza shelf

TZ ni nchi ambayo less than 1% ya raia wana degree za Chuo Kikuu so go figure! Raisi anayependa Ze Comedy na anayependa ku-hang na Mr. Cooper au Seinfield unadhani ni nani atakeyapata kura at the end of the day?

Muulize Prof. Mwandosya analijua hilo.

When you are a leader it's better to read people than books. That said, I believe the guy (JK) does refresh his mind either by reading books or by other means.
