WASHINGTON – By LIZ SIDOTI and DAVID ESPO, Associated Press Writers

Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire abruptly withdrew his nomination as commerce secretary Thursday, the third Cabinet-level pick scuttled. The move left President Barack Obama without a full team to lead the government.

He cited "irresolvable conflicts" with Obama's handling of the economic stimulus and 2010 census.

The White House quickly issued a statement saying that Gregg was the one who originally offered his name for the job. Once it became clear he could not support all of the president's agenda, "it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways," said presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs.

Gregg's withdrawal was the latest political stumbling block in the first weeks of Obama's presidency.
Gregg, 61, said he informed the White House "fairly early in the week" about his decision.

"We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy," Gregg said in a statement released by his Senate office.

Asked in a conference call with reporters when he informed Obama, Gregg said, "I'm not going to be specific on the timing."

"This is more of a question of just being me," he told reporters.

My Take: Poor Obama....

Nothing wrong with Obama something is wrong with Republican they don't wanna accept their responsibility as they screw up this economy.Obama is the President he has to deliver what he promise to American people so Republican are trying to hold him down.

SAHIBA.

Maybe he should just give up reaching out to Republicans because it is obvious they do not wish him well. He has enough votes in the Senate to ignore the Republicans.

He promised socialism and wealth re-distribution so why should the Republicans help him? If you were in a car, would you assist a reckless driver heading towards a cliff or would you try to stop him if you can? Obantu is the reckless driver and the car is America.

....and that means you have inherited the suicidal mentality from your forefathers regardless of who has taken control of your car. For it is your destiny, the earlier the merrier!!

Well the unpatriotic souls are many, they talk and talk and talk.... how many are in the country and how many are serving the nation's nationalistic frontlines.... handful may be, the walk is too tough for them. scavengers of hard earned freedom endeavors by their lesser cousins, so they say, so it looks!

Can't get worse than what it is now so are Republican holding for what they are the one who got us here and President Obama need to act now and as he said he won't go back to the same idea that fail us and doing nothing is not an option.First he express his interest for the job before Obama nominate him so may be his party told him to withdraw, that tells you Republican are getting ready for the next election.Socialism, mh that is what you say if you believe that then you have a problem and i think you don't know what is socialism.

SAHIBA.

I'm quite sure that Sen. Gregg Judd received some interesting letters from some prominent and powerful republicans urging him to step down ....because they (republicans) have already said it....that they are out there to make sure president Obama fails.....but....I have a feeling they will be looking for a place to hide some time in the near future....because president Obama will succeed.
President Obama is reaching out accross the aisle so that the country can have a smooth forward movement for the betterment of the American people.....may be republicans are not Americans....!!!???!!!

We Nyani, naona umeanza tena! Sasa ndo anabadili mawazo? Huwezi amini lakini hii ime-backfire kwa Republicans sasa wanaonekana petty and having their own interests at heart. Hiyo stimulus package inpita... like it or not... sasa Gregg will go down in history as the flipflopper.... huyu hata senate seat yake asahau katika uchaguzi ujao!
Mi ningemshauri Obama kwanza hii position ya commerce secretary alifutilie mbali, halina maana!

Nothing wrong with Mjaluo Obama, only that peoples expectations are over the limit. Most expect Obama to have a magic wand and that problems will just go away!
Dont expect too much , after all Obama is just a human being.

I don't even know where to begin. I think it will take too much of time to argue about economics, socialism, and Obantu but all I can say is, Republicans gain nothing by supporting the current administration.

Republicans are bunch of ******; they will do anything to block Obama Administration to fulfill its goal to govern. They have forgotten it was Democrats who outnumbered Republicans in rescuing Bush's Bailout bill in the house. In return they voted no to Obamas' stimulus bill, thanks to their majority that saved the day. Obama inherited the mess which was left by Bush's eight years in office. It will take Obama longtime and determined leadership to clear the mess that is why he reached to Republicans hoping they can work together but they want to play hard on him while the American people are hurting and need relief from the economic crises.

Nyani unamwona mzee wa discipline - Rahm!
Anamcheki Obama kwa makini, akikosea tu step anakuwa anamsahihisha ... cheki alivyofanya assessment tayari kuhusu makosa yaliyofanyika in the past few days
Huyu Rahm kwa kweli anafurahisha, hamwogopi bosi wala hajipendekezi he says it like it is! Na anapenda sana kuhakikisha he is in control of the message! Nyani, huyu siyo your average Democrat, this boy plays hard ball!
