Kenyans, abstaining, actually running away from being seen voting to denounce the decision of Trump administration to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and hence shifting its embassy to the city was a cowardly decision. To me this tests the competence and quality of our leadership. We are human beings, we know what was happening inside the grey jerry of these individuals.

Our neighbours voted enthusiastically, reading loudly their decisions, confidently. In east Africa Kenya brags to have good economy and influence to steering the community towards where it is required to be. However, with this type of leadership, this type of decisions, there is no way Kenya will be a respected state. A country where the leadership struggles to impress the US regardless of the quality of prescription handled to them. Leaders who couldn’t recognize the humiliating prescription or who tolerated the humiliation for no tangible reason!

What benefits are we getting from this relation with the US? Getting VISA to the US? Are the benefits that much heavier to sacrificing the country’s integrity and respect? NO! NO!

You get support on war against terrorism. I mean fighting Al shabab.
Eg. Ammunitions, combat and intelligence tactical training, e.t.c.

Kenya did not abstain, the kenya office at the UN was closed for holiday hence we did not participate in the vote at all, but if we had we would have probably abstained, this is because the resolution was useless and it was stupid for any country to think that voting for or against actually had any power, If the US woke up tomorrow and decided that palestine doesn't exists anymore, trust me, no one in the UN would do shit! I mean just look at this situation, the whole UN had to call for a special meeting just to vote on one single issue where the sovereign state of US decided that it would move its embassy, how weak is the rest of the world that we have to all gather to pass a useless resolution that doesn't carry any weight just for one country

And you wanted us to vote for Amina. SMH

Our foreign policy has always been that two countries at war should solve there problems through negotiation between themselves, that's why Kenya has never voted for or against any resolution at the UN which pitted two countries against each other.
Anyway, like I said, if Kenya's office was opened, we would have abstained, not because of the US threats of a dying horse but because of our relations with Israel.
In the history of Kenya at the UN, kenya has always abstained in any vote that was specific to a country, with only two exceptions in history and one of them was on Palestine and this has always been the exception but this particular vote was specific to the US/Israel and thus the embassy wouldn't even have called the president, they would have abstained, this is because Kenya has the belief that this kind of votes are always bieng manipulated by the big countries, and the rest of us small countries are just pons so Kenya chose not to play the game.

For eg. Turkey has been wanting to become the leader of the Arab world, and as such and spearheading this pointless campaign certainly puts them at a nice geopolitical position to cement their position as the leader of middle east so to a point, it wasn't about palestine, they just wanted to use that situation to score some geopolitical points and small countries foolishly join the campaign thinking they are fighting for what's right when we just serve the masters of manipulation

Blood relations? Or, that you have an Embassy in Tel Aviv?
That was a vote for/against "Negotiations" that you tried to preach as the basis of conflict resolutions.
Thought you'd have taken a "Negotiations" position and vote for.

Did you even read the resolution yourself?
First of all, the US passed a law a decade ago recognising Jerusalem as the capital, its only than no president acted on it until now.

The resolution itself is not about negotiation, the main agenda was specific, that all countries refrain from setting up embassies in Jerusalem.

But the thing is, this resolution is non binding meaning it cannot be enforced and no UN consequences would fall on anyone who goes against it. Meaning Trump can take up that paper and wipe his arse with it and no one can do anything about it.

The other thing is Turkey which spearheaded this circus of emotional manipulation, currently looking to score some points and climb the diplomatic ladder

To give room for "Negotiations".
It's actually a no-brainer. Smh
The negotiations is between Israel and palestine... If you read the resolution in totality, it didn't mention any names but it was targeted at the US and as such we would have abstained because such kind of resolutions are always subject to manipulations ,

It could have just been turkeys payback to the US for this

If USA asks Kenyans to let their wives to have sex with US citizens once per month, no single Kenyan can resist. Remember when US threatened EAC against the law passed by EAC leaders which stipulated that ""importation of used clothes shall be prohibited into member states in order to protect our clothes industry,"" Kenya without consulting other member states decided to surrender and go against decision which Uhuru Kenyatta signed along side with other east Africa leaders. Kenya is very weak country in front of wazungu specifically USA

Let me ask you this, if trade union decided to hold a demo in Nairobi to initiate the gov to change one of its policy. Are they marching with assurance the gov will reverse its decision? Huu ulikuwa wakati wenu wa to make a statement that you value your friendship with US, but you can't support what you don't believe in. Kama mlikataa ushoga, why not this one. If it was useless why Britain, and German (most US allied country) voted against?
