Tanzania airport staff were treated to a rare incident after an Emirates Airbus A380 was forced to land in Dar es Salaam due to bad weather on Tuesday.
This was the first time an aircraft of that size landed on Tanzanian soil.
Flight EK 701 was en-route Mauritius from Dubai with more than 400 passengers, including the crew member, on board.
The passengers spent the night in Tanzania before proceeding with their journey to Mauritius today.
A passenger tweeted said that the airport staff at the Julius Nyerere Airport were amazed at the size of the aircraft.
"Crazy day. Couldn’t land at Mauritius due to storm so flew three hours to Dar-es-Salaam. We are the first A380 ever to land here. Ground crew taking pictures but have no idea how to get us off the plane."
Officials from the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) confirmed that the Airbus 380 was the largest aircraft to land in Tanzania.
