Safaricom has appointed former CEO Michael Joseph on an interim basis.

The company held a special board meeting on July 1, 2019 following the death of CEO Bob Collymore early the same morning.

Mr Collymore died at his home on Monday following a long battle with cancer. He leaves a rich legacybehind.
In a statement dated July 1,2019 and signed by company secretary Kathryne Maundu, Safaricom said: "The Board is confident that during this transition, Mr Joseph will provide the necessary guidance and leadership to the Company and its employees."

He will hold the position "until the board communicates in due course, on a permanent appointment."

Mr Joseph, a US citizen, has been the chairman of Kenya Airways since 2016, and shareholders extended his term for another three years during the June 10, 2019 AGM.

Habari za Kenya zinatop huko Tanzania throughout, tukikohoa mnaitika tena haraka, I love it.
How I wish the opposite was true but Tz doesn't matter to Kenya.

Open your mind dude, Bob Collymore the former CEO did not even have a college degree. You do not necessarily need a Degree in the industry to lead an organisation doing biz in that certain Industry.
And by way, Food Science is a "BSC", she is more qualified on paper that a BA Economics holder.

What matters is the leadership qualities in the person. There are some people with Masters in Tech and Business related courses i would not even trust to run a mobile phone retail Kiosk.

Hahahaha, kama mnamuona anafaa kwanini basi msimchague angalau awe CEO wa interim mpaka mtakapochagua mwengine?, mumeshindwa kumuamini japo kwa miezi sita tu.

Duuu hata mazishi ya huyo CEO mfu bado, tayari mtu kesha kula shavu.

Hivi huyo jamaa ameshazikwa tayari?

Am not saying she has to be appointed , am disputing the fact that Mkikuyu- Akili timamu insists she was not qualified just because she holds a degree in food science.

Mwili wake utachomwa(cremation) leo hii, kama wa Nobel Laurette Wangari Maathai. Huu ushamba wa kuzikana siku moja tutakuja kuusahau.

He's just a sore loser, underachiever who does not earn a tenth of what Mulinge makes.

Safaricom is 50 times bigger than Vodacom.

Just because you are qualified to be the Vice Chancellor of Kibabii University does not mean you are automatically qualified to be the VC of University of Nairobi.

That was not my concern. The issue was SafariCom could wait until the crematerial ceremony of a deceased CEO is done before they appoint a new one.

This guy has some serious low self esteem, dismissing someones capability based on his Degree or grade regardless of real achievement.

Hahahaha, like wise Tanzania is smarter and principled country 100 times than Kenya, We can't allow someone who is just as corrupt as her country of origin to polute our beloved country.

One thing Kenyans must realize is that, we spent a lot of time and resources to build this Nation called Tanzania to be as it is today, No tribalism, less corruption, very united and peaceful, less greedy people and polite people, we shall never allow any body who brought in disorganized Country to spread their foul smelling characters in our country.
