Why Magufuli administration misses the point on Government splurge

Because the intended beneficiaries care less

Why should we care if they don't?

It's a riddle which luckily for us solves itself

Before we wallow too much on judicial independence let us mull over sources of judicial legitimacy and leverage

To succeed to clamber the judicial ladder one needs few legs to walk upon

The first must earn academic credentials LLB degree

Second needs to be employed as a lawyer or magistrate

Some years of experience certainly helps

But aligning yourself with the establishment trumps everything else

I have seen brilliant legal minds being snubbed by the establishment for vertical promotion

A more glorious example is of retired high court Judge Hon. James Mwalusanya

He is of very few coterie of judges whose wisdom transcends time

But was he not hated by fellow judges

In his decisions he loved to have made headlines

The appeals court rebuked him for just that

True, sometimes he was overreaching in his decisions but who doesn't

For example, there was a case he was disgusted by low pay for advocates representing the state in criminal cases

He overreached when he encroached upon the executive onus

When he set out exact amounts which such advocates ought to be paid

That was the only blunder am aware of
