Why Magufuli administration misses the point on Government splurge

If what we are learning from the media is true then there are fissures within CCM that very little this regime can or cannot do to fill them

The MPs have an ear to the ground

At the moment, the MPs have come to a definitive conclusion their party boss has failed to capture the imagination of the voters

The party boss is insular, belligerent and merciless

To salvage the party political fortunes from an imminent election defeat the MPs are seeking ways out of this political demise.

Either to show they can stand against unpopular president doubling as party boss the MPs have been strategizing in a self survival mode

The plan "A" is separation of party positions from government ones

The objectives is to remove the unpopular president from having a say on their nominations

MPs are incensed their parliamentary wings are clipped by the unpopular president who doubles as party chairman and as a result has powers to revoke their nominations when general election comes calling

For them their parliamentary powers require less or preferably zero meddling in parliamentary nominations

So far, plan "A" seems to have hit a stonewall

CCM recent constitutional amendments refused to comply with those grievances

So, MPs have been sizing up to plan "B" fraught with real and imaginary roadblocks

It aspires to intimidate the executive in a "scratch my back, I will scratch yours"

The MPs are toying with touting the popular PM as a falling guy in a bait kind of "Games of Thrones"!

The first hindrance few MPs in both halves of political divide have a stomach to humiliate such a popular political figure: the PM.

The PM's simplicity, humility and attention to details charm and disarm potential political enemies. In fact he is such a huge asset to this regime that even his boss is willing to put his presidency on line in case the MPs follow up on this plan "B".

The president has promised to dissolve the parliament and call an early election if his PM is dumped by the Augusta House in a no confidence vote.

This confirms how invaluable the PM's political skills have become to steady this Titanic ship prone to self inflicting political wounds.

Second, the nominations in question target individuals and are unlikely to elicit the kind of class political action hewn by the protagonists

Whether it is hunger denial, earthquake abandonment or Makonda & Co. humiliation of sitting MPs there is still divisions among the CCM MPs because MPs are not treated equally by the regime

Some CCM MPs are more equal than others.
