Lema was illegally detained for four months in a malicious prosecution case and AG confirmed this when he abandoned his bail challenge in haste before the court of Appeal

Tundu Lissu is also being accused of breaching terms of his bail

That he is inciting people against the union and SMZ

The problem of all incitement cases is when nobody gets incited despite such alleged utterances and such cases based upon killer speculations collapse in a domino effect manner like a house of cards!

Such criminal prosecutions are malicious, unsubstantiated and have no legal legs to stand upon

AG is privy of these facts so the aim is not to convict Tundu from these frivolous and vexatious charges but rather to deny him his statutorily rights to campaign, vote and be part of TLS forthcoming election

The second tactic of this regime gone stale is to degrade and denigrate the TLS once and for all save for successful legal challenges against the intrusive new law targeting the sidelining and vanquishing the TLS

TLS degradation will be achieved by creating new statutory body that will abrogate to its self all legal powers from TLS to coordinate, manage and supervise all the products of lawyers

TLS; if this law sails in the House, will be just another vacuous and tamed NGO where a toothless dog is confined for good!

We have, unfortunately, very selfish class of politicians hellbent to maim and destroy professionalism just to hold onto power illegally or by the otherwise

The new body packed with ministerial appointees will be government stooges to muffle any radical reforms in law profession just like other dead professions we have all get accustomed to

Where that law will fail to control lawyers but legal challenges ought to be anticipated against a pro regime new creature designed to muzzle freedom of expression and speech.

Unless that happens not, the TLS will cease to define and shape its vision, destiny and future as unscrupulous politicians posing and masquerading as minister for judiciary meddle, manipulate and intimidate lawyers to kowtow government positions instead of adherence to the rule of law and good governance.

Now with TLS elections going to the wire, the regime may opt to influence government lawyers to vote regime friendly lawyers to head a potentially seminal organization

The problem for thus regime it never treats its own with respect and decorum.

So its influence to sway this election is dubitable
