Can Tundu Lissu win this presidential election?
Yes, he can! Despite a seemingly herculean task ahead but I just have a gut feeling he can and here is why I say so...
CCM behaves more like an occupation force and hence her legitimacy to govern is very much questionable. In fact, to hit the bullseye CCM looks more like a colonial power ascertained by subduing citizens to subjects robbed of their basic human rights.
Her over reliance on gratuitous force, political persecutions, CCM cadres well planted in public service for the purpose and intents of rigging elections and gross abuses of public office remove any iota of shadow of doubt CCM cannot win a clean election.
Borrowing heavily from the last general election, we can discern transparency has potential to send CCM packing her bags for a quick excursion to home sweet home..
Afande Kova vanquished CHADEMA national tallying center in Dar after he claimed it was laced with foreign mercenaries but a couple of months later the suspects who were "very local" with no whiff of foreign blood in them were quietly released without charge but clarity still fuzzy on what happened to their laptops where data on actual election results could have been stored.
So we know opposition national tallying of election results is an anathema to the political survival of the rulers of the day.
So the opposition needs to motivate all their support base to screenshot all polling station and constituent results in their proximity and upload them in all kinds of websites from opposition ones, Facebook, whatsup and everyone should form own tallying center.
We say so because the then opposition presidential torch bearer had made a colossal error of judgment when he disowned his supporters from being votes vanguards when he puked "Kazi ya kuhesabu kura niachieni mimi..."
Later his supporters came to learn with inconsolable anguish their presidential aspirant was a greenhorn in the opposition moonlighting politics when he cried foul even before the results were announced, and after they were announced he boasted he had forked out 58% of the votes cast as the votes he garnered without supporting documents.
Strangely enough, the supporting documents which are polling station results were left unattended on notice boards sprawling all over the country in the earmarked polling stations at a time their bitter presidential loser was nursing his torturous loss somewhere in Monduli...Todate the braggart is yet to substantiate his claims but has rowed back and rejoined his old party of "Baba na mama" raising rebuttable concerns maybe his knee jerk reactions to join the opposition was a carefully drawn out strategy to goad the opposition to silence or unbridled personal political ambition is behind all that fussy..
We are also alive to the following facts from interactive experiences of the last general election:-
1) While the electoral commission is very sympathetic to the ruling party but can only announce results validated by CCM cadres doubling as constituent supervisors whose statutory legitimacy a gratitude of being presidential appointees of District Executive Directors or abbreviated as DED.
2) The results announced in polling stations which have been doctored at constituent level can be rebuked by polling station results so the opposition will need to develop an app which can show in each constituent all polling station results with their respective forms attached.
3) In the last general election, at least two constituent results which were doctored after constituent verified results were announced a public outcry which gained traction in the social media led to the election commission to bow down to those agitations and rectified those results. One of the beleaguered constituent was Tandahimba so you can guess if the presidential results for that constituent were doctored to benefit the ruling party it is anybody guess whether the putative MP really won or was a beneficiary of massive rigging..
4) Where results have been doctored at constituent level, the election commission has said she was toothless to interfere and such corrections demand court level intervention
5) Judicial intervention over allegations of doctored results at constituent level have shown mixed results even where the complainant was armed to teeth with documentary evidence as the Kafulila legal saga reminds us and his court of appeal efforts were neither here nor there after Kafulila surrendered himself to the ruling party and was handsomely rewarded with District commission office...
It is these errors of conscience which are do or die for Tundu's presidential stab... (will continue next week)
