Apart from constitutional and other misinformation issues geared to curtail the ability of the opposition to tally and verify NEC final presidential outcome there are other salient matters which make this case a police face saving and further reveal the police dancing to the tunes of its employer

Commonsense and logic dictate employers and building renters should have been primary suspects rather than their employees

As far as the police is concerned, Ukawa and Chadema who recruited the seven suspects as their volunteers have no case to answer!

Chadema and in particular its presidential torch bearer Lowassa had owned up in words that those were their volunteers.

If news outlets are to be believed then cdm wrote to NEC and the police demanding immediate and unconditional release of their volunteering team of staff including return of confiscated computers, laptops and other brics-a-bracs.

The grapevine avers the police never sought court warrant to inspect and collect those paraphernalia.

If this is true then the police's conduct in this matter will be on the dock.

How can they exculpate themselves in this witness and evidence tampering?

How can they inspect the hardware and softwares without securing a court warrant?

Who will defend the police on these potentially case shutting allegations?

The police has grown cold feet to arraign the employers of the suspects which in itself is a jaw dropping decision

It is akin of prosecuting foot soldiers and clearing the generals who ordered and facilitated them.

May be the police is beyond caring of its public image as it is determine to continue boot licking its employers in ccm but its credibility in the eyes of general public continue nosediving

"Police jamii" will only be in lip service

To restore the police impartiality which is a key ingredient in being effective and efficient in fulfilling its mandate reforms are in dire need

Most of police reforms target infrastructural issues but not human resources ones

As a result, the post colonial force behaves like a British colonial police force

Our police misappropriates national resources to protect a tiny ruling clique at the expense of protecting the general public at large.

I am surprised the parliament is silent from investigating the police conduct during the last election

Meaningful reforms to the police must be initiated by parliament

The police is very partisan and partial in our political spectrum

While the outcome of this case is unknown but we cannot forsake to say the logjam of criminal cases is jammed by trivial and malicious prosecutions.
