Reverend Gwajima is in pomp but lucidly out of order when he lambasted Cardinal Pengo for being out of step with the Bishop council which had issued a statement urging their faithful to vote against the constitutional referendum.
Cardinal Pengo had vehemently distanced himself from episcopal dictum claiming though binding to him he retained an inherent right as servant of the Lord to defend the gospel despite slighting his colleagues in the process.
For sure Cardinal Pengo had missed the important point that collective responsibility is a glue that holds the Episcopal body together, and any forms of rebellion from any member under the subterfuge of defending the gospel is not only hypocritical but exposes the soft underbelly of his own faith.
Cardinal Pengo did not attend the meeting of his fellow bishops for reasons which he did not elaborate leaving behind many unanswered questions.
One of the obvious concern is why the good Cardinal treat such vital gatherings with so much contempt and ridicule the very institutions of faith he is a core member?
The episcopal declarations are based on interactive dialogues, mutual respect and a stronger belief Christ Jesus Himself is with them when they were deliberating according to clear instructions of the gospel.
For obvious reasons, the truant Cardinal cannot and should not be permitted to claim or even allude God is only with him but not the episcopal caucus! That is pride gone amok!
Cardinal Pengo is truly not on his priestly blocks when he bluffed that the episcopal caucus lacked the spiritual authority to instruct the believers on the way forward. The problem Pengo entangled himself with was, he did not cite any doctrine in support of his assertions leaving at least me to wonder was the good Cardinal guided by God on this or was he simply inspired to placate Caeser of the day?
Episcopal caucuses are there to offer spiritual guidance, and the good Cardinal misdirected himself for faulting the bishops over the mandate but he should have questioned their motives and the substance behind their episcopal declaration.
Cardinal Pengo had praised the bishops over their careful consideration implying their motives and the content were holy ones.
Apart from being tripped by inconsistencies, Cardinal Pengo failed to explain whether the constitutional process was a legitimate one and due process of the law was adhered to the letter rendering his outpouring froth misguided, foul and an eyesore.
Cardinal Pengo never chided his fellow senior bishop Kilaini who in 2005 grossly misled the nation that JK was divinely ordained only ten years later we are able to decode that code of axis of evil between the executive and some members of clergy after the ESCROW scams revelations.
But albeit Cardinal Pengo's personal failures are conspicuous and passim, Reverend Gwajima was even more wrong to excoriate the anointed servant of God in a manner steeped with insults and impertinence.
The gospel of Christ Jesus commands the disciples to be slow in judgment but abundant in enduring mercies.
Paradoxically, both Cardinal Pengo and his fiercest critic Reverend Gwajima shares one demeanour: obesity in pride but anemia in humility. Both of them ought to seek repentance because God resist the proud but gives His enduring mercies to the humble. Only in humility, the strength of God abundantly
manifests upon us.
