There needs to be a mechanism where we’re alerted whenever our data is being accessed. How do I know when my phone call records are requested? Or my NIDA profile exported?

It’s for that very reason why European Union came up with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). The goal being to protect consumers and the general population from having their data misused.

They came up with 7 perfect principles to guide the data protection.

We need to talk further about how the data we submit is going to be protected. You can put your phone inside your house, see it and guard it. When it’s at risk of being accessed, you see.

But with data, it’s somewhere you can’t see protect or touch. Basis of trust need to exist..

Opinion: Given Edward (Givenality)

Tanzania ranks the highest country with poorest biometric data security

Tatizo ni pale wataalamu wanapoamua kuweka chini utaalam wao na kuamua kutekeleza maagizo ya ukichaa kutika kwa boss wao

I think you are missing the sensical meaning of biometric registration. Idea behind is not to protect the data rather identify who owns/use the subscriber number. And it holds much water in many ways, criminal ids and disruptions, etc.
The burden of data protection lies with yourself and your carrier. Its much the same way as you apply for passports or register at hospital desk before consultations, but when it comes to security concerns, all other aspects are surpassed.
Let not mislead people reg biometric registrations please

Mkuu data protection haina uhusiano wowote na biometric registration, tatizo ninalo liona nchi yetu haina sheria ya ulinzi wa data, hii inasababisha data kuwa prone to abuse and misuse, naimani unafahamu ulimwengu sasa hivi unakabiliana na issue ya how to manage big data, wenzetu wana invest kwenye artificial intelligence ili kusaidia kuchakata data na kuboresha the existing algorithms

No doubt, under Magufuli they will misuse and they are misusing the data.
Hopeless government

It is not the intent of this thread to mislead but rather to question and discuss. Thank you for your thought-provoking contribution.

Let us assume that you are right, why then is Tanzania ranking the highest country with poorest biometric data security?

Yeah, hoja yako inaleta maana.

If that is the case, how come tuseme biometric registration sio threat. Kwani fingerprints sio data? Au data ni nini kwa ujumla wake?

I give the researcher a benefit of my doubt, as i dont know the scope/magnitude of their sampling. Its so much vague.
We have our bios everywhere, hospitals, airports, hotels, Nida, immigration, etc etc.. so when they say TZ has poorest biometric data security, in what angle?? Unless you provide their research, i will remove my veto

Hivi Tanzania hata sheria za data protection zipo?

Are banks required to encrypt their systems for example?

Finally, Personal Data Protection Act is on the way. The GoT has confirmed to soon present the bill at the parliament.
