World Water Day: Rural Areas still suffer from clean water scarcity

The Water Sector Development Programme (WSDP) has, since 2006, been the government and development partners’ main vehicle to deliver access to safe water. Over USD 1.2 billion was spend on WSDP phase 1 between 2006 and 2014.

But still in rural areas water is and will in the next few years be a problem.

1. One in four households (26%) uses an unprotected well as their main source of drinking water, and one in five (20%) uses a surface water source, such as a river, stream or dam.

2. 38% of people in rural areas need over an hour to get water.


What is your opinion on This level of unequal distibution of resources?

It is indeed the fault of their representatives that they dont get clean water. The rural citizens should either change the way they choose their leaders or change their attitudes towards their reps( be abit harsh and demand results) after they have selected them
