Tanzania reigning champions Yanga have appointed Jerome Dufourg as Chief Executive
Officer on a three-year contract to take charge of the operations of the club as well as financial planning.
The Frenchman, who has worked with the Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) and FC
Talanta in the second tier league in Kenya has been tasked with turning the club’s fortunes around and steering them into the best club on the African continent.
“My objectives will be to re-align the club’s priorities and focus on building a threshold by
establishing academies for the youth with underage groups, building artificial turfs and
getting the finances to power this,” Dufourg told supersport.com in an exclusive interview.
The 30-year old Fifa Master Alumni is expected to land in Dar es Salaam next week and
scheduled to start work officially on November 19.
Tanzanian business tycoon also the Yanga club chairman Yusuf Manji is keen to build the club into a powerhouse on the African continent and believes that Dufourg’s appointment will help Yanga achieve this objective.
In the past one year, Yanga’s income was $593,865 (Tsh1.3bn)and their expenditure $1.3m (Tsh2.88bn)thus operating at a loss and Manji is keen on having the club operate profitably.
In the wake of South African PSL side Mamelodi Sundowns victory over Zamalek to liftthe Caf Champions League, Dufourg said, “Mamelodi Sundowns have shown that organization and proper planning can win you titles and this is something we want to pursue, to build strong clubs like TP Mazembe in DR Congo and Mamelodi Sundowns.”
“Sundowns former general manager Kenneth Makhanya is also a Fifa Master Alumni and it is because of his foundation before he stepped down in 2013 that has helped the club to achieve what they have achieved,” mentioned Dufourg.
Yanga will represent Tanzania in the 2017 Caf Champions League.
