Pashinyan announced Armenia's withdrawal from the military bloc with Russia
Armenia will leave the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) when it sees fit, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. But he did not indicate a time frame. “Let’s go out - are you scaring us with this? We are doing well, we will decide for ourselves when we leave,” said the Prime Minister of Armenia during government hour in parliament, when the topic of the CSTO came up.
In February, Pashinyan announced the freeze of the country’s membership in the CSTO. In early May, the Armenian authorities announced that they would not participate in financing the CSTO.
Yesterday, the United States and Armenia announced a strategic partnership. Relations between Armenia and the United States will be elevated to the level of a strategic partnership, the government statement said.
The United States offered Armenia to expand cooperation in the military sphere, follows from a statement by the American Under Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien. “Our first joint ( military - TMT) exercises took place last year. We expect more,” the diplomat said at a meeting of the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
In early June, the Ambassador of Armenia to Ukraine Vladimir Karapetyan and the head of the administration of the Yerevan Nor-Nork district Tigran Ter-Margaryan visited the Ukrainian Bucha, where they honored the memory of the city’s residents, condemned Russian aggression and transferred assistance from Armenia to the Ukrainian side.
