Said Lugumi (Saidi Hamad Lugumi) was born in Magu, Mwanza Tanzania in 1972. He was born from Christian parents but later converted to Islam. He was never educated beyond Tanzania’s Primary School System which is a 7 years elementary education.
As a young man he grew up as a shoeshiner in Mwanza and later made his way to Dar es Salaam (Tanzania’s main commercial capital) in early 1990s. In Dar es Salaam, Said Lugumi lived in a couple of third class suburbs including Mwananyala area going on with his earlier “profession” (shoe shinning).
A lucky man?
Through lucky, Said Lugumi met Said Mwema’s daughter and the two fell in love and eventually married. With influential inlaws Said Lugumi was led to establish Lugumi Enterprises initially dealing with corporate printing and fumigation and later diversified to forensics and ICT. Said Lugumi has also been rumoured to take part in drug trafficking allegations that are putting him in close scrutiny by the US Department of State and other international law enforcement agencies. In Dar es Salaam he’s known for his lavish lifestyle, sexual scandals with hundreds of women among other controversies.
