The full weight of the Jubilee government was felt in Taita Taveta County yesterday when President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and Cabinet secretaries arrived aboard 13 helicopters.

Several senior Government officials also flew to the site of a presidential event near Voi in private helicopters. Each of the Cabinet secretaries arrived in a private helicopter that landed and was neatly parked near Tsavo River.

They were followed by Ruto, who came in yet another helicopter, while the President and his aides arrived last in two helicopters. The President and his delegation were on an inspection tour of the ongoing Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project.

The site cleared for the presidential entourage is located in the vast Tsavo West National Park along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

Among the first to arrive were Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala (Mining), Joseph Nkaissery (Interior), James Macharia (Health), Adan Mohammed (Industrialisation) and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.

On his arrival, the Deputy President held a brief closed-door meeting with Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu, Senator Dan Mwazo and Taveta MP Naomi Shaban. He then welcomed President Kenyatta who arrived minutes later in an Air Force helicopter escorted by a similar aircraft.

The president has a right to use his chopper as CinC to quickly move from point A to point B, blame should be directed to the ministers who could have easily agreed to use atleast two choppers at once.

But don't forget, things are not always in black and white and as simple as they seem, remeber the when former Internal security minister (George Saitoti) died together with his Deputy while flying in one chopper? Security experts were even mocking the government for bieng too incompetent to fly two VIPs in one chopper and not see the risk, MPs in parliament questioned how the Security organs could let such a thing happen on there watch. (Imagin if the six Cabinet ministers all boarded one chopper and it unfortunately crashed! ) Or imagine if the president and His deputy used the same chopper and the unfortunate happened, wouldn't we be the first ones to questions how in the world they could have let two VVIP fly in one chopper.(there would have been so much speculation people will start pointing fingers at the oposition and before you know it, we are in a civil war,(remember the rwanda genocide started with the downing of a plane carrying a certain leader and blame pointed at the other party))

And if they would have all chose to use the road, A convoy from Mombasa to Voi (a distance of 327Km and a time of 4Hrs 30min), How many hustlers would they have had to inconvenience on the road? All those businesses along the road would have had to be closed, in the evining when comming back, Mombasa road would somehow have had to be cleared so that the president and his entourage could pass, how much would it have cost (closed businesses, wastage of fuel of 1000s stuck in traffic, the jam would have probably ran up to late night causing people not to go to work the next day).

Remember, when Uhuru was the finance minister he forced all the whole government to shift from using fuel guzzlers to fuel economic cars. Finally, Kenya seizes fuel guzzlers | Capital News
So he knows all two well about government wastage,

Thats in my own view.

But who knows, maybe there was nothing taken into consideration and this was just mismanagemnet and a wastage of public funds and everyone is just living big eating our taxes

This is why I think uhuru goes wrong sometimes

It is prestigious- Yes but this is another way of wastage of public funds period.

Hapo sasa ukitaka kuwajua Wakenya vizuri hauna haja ya kuwauliza wanakotoka!
Wakikuyu watamtetea Uhuru - Ruto kwenye hili na Wajaluo watampinga Uhuru kwenye hili ,,nothing more nothing less"
kama wasemavyo Waingereza!
