How do you know they are social scientists?

their reading lists, except Nyani Ngabu who read about mathematics principles. but it is also a challenge to natural scientist as they seems to be not good readers while in this world you can't do any science without reading enough literature.

sa far Gaijin most of our scientist except those who are academician but for those who are not reading is not their hobby, and so far they tend to assume as what for reading these scientific books and publications??

Hapo umefanya oversimplification.

"R language for statistical analysis" or "System faults diagnosis engineering" or "Fuzzy clustering for trend identification and forecasting"

kuwa ndio best books alivyosoma kwa mwaka 2012 (coz that will be too geeky 😀)

I did not read any notable book in 2012, the thread made me feel embarrassed that I have not read any book.

I am giving myself a target of reading at least 12 books in 2013, the selection will base from the articles you have just mentioned in this thread.

Thanks guys for awakening my mind.

Swali nililouliza mwanzo linajirudia.

Taaluma zinabaki private huko.

Nitake radhi.

Even when he couldn't repeat the full tittle of Darwin's book on public radio?

😀

He stands high on his own credentials...and that surpluses the need to remember "other" scientist's books!

50 mathematical ideas you really need to know - Tony Crilly

50 big ideas you really need to know - Ben Dupre

50 philosophy ideas you really need to know - Ben Dupre

Images of Africa: Stereotypes and Realities - Daniel M. Mengara

East African Expressions of Christianity - Thomas Spear/Isaria N. Kimambo/David Wiley
sasa mkuu hivi vitabu ntaweza vipata vipi...una soft copy zake?

He stands high on his own credentials...and that surpluses the need to remember "other" scientist's books!

Then he shouldn't have judged Christians by their ability to name the first book of the New Testament

aah! am so sorry! nimeona science a history........
ila yaelekea weni wawatu sio wapenz wa kusoma kabisa.

Umeona hicho tu? Au kwako science mpaka uone "Chemistry" "Physics" au "Biology" wakati watu tumechumpa kwenye the null dimensional quantum fluctuations of anti-time and dark energy in inflationary cosmogony?

hivi ndivyo nlivyofanikiwa gusa 2012...
-chand(mathematics book 11 and 12)
-pure mathematitics 1&2
-poor dady rich dady
-the things men do by hadley

Just goes to show you he is more entrenched in ideas than memorizing book titles, an intern, Ph.D student - or an android app- can do that.

There is a legend about Einstein not being able to remember his own phone number but being able to articulate difficult equation of physics, when asked why, he reportedly said (most probably a fictictious account, given Einstein's respect for dignified - even elite- humility) so he is accounted as having replied something to the effect of "I can look up a phone number, what I occupy my mind with I cannot look up anywhere".

Similarly, when Dr. Murray Gell-Mann, the CALTECH Nobel laureate particle physicist was asked about some then recent developments in particle physics, particularly to do with the discovery of a new particle, he frankly pleaded ignorance on the account that if he was to keep up with the names and number of these new particles he might as well turn into a botanist (Biologists were considered to be lower than Physicist and Chemist in that order, and botanist were at the bottom of biologists).

The moral of the stories? Dr. Gell-Mann was interested in some more underlying principles, like being interested in the patterns of the elements of the periodic table and predicting future elements and the structure of the elements more than keeping tabs with the number of the elements in a purely taxonomical sense.

The Einstein legend demonstrate a meme that detail as necessary as it is, could be delegated to an intern or research assistand/ Ph.D student 🙂

As long as he remains stellar on the grand ideas and weaving intricate scientific truisms into the zeitgeist, he has my admiration.

Besides, he could be exhibiting early signs of Alzheimers, you don't want fault a brilliant mind for that.

Nobody expected him to remember Darwin's book tittle until when he expected Christians to remember the order of the books in the New Testament

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. He started the ritual he now has no right to avoid joining in-him not an intern, a Ph.D student or an App 😛

Btw, somebody should call Ganesh stat, we need more insight on the Chloroquine Vs Dark Matter issue

Ideas trump personalities.

Ganesh is outta this world. Our version of the quintessential eccentric English baron.

Complete with an insurmountable fondness for eastern mysticism and conspiracy theories even a madman would find hard to believe.

just to mention the few lol!
