He gave his reasons and opinions, as according to Kenya, but comparing between TZ and KE it is not enough to just say a country is doing better because the GDP PPP or GDP Nominal is higher, other issues have to be considered too...
plus indices like HDI, Life expectancy, literacy, hunger index must be put into perspective.

Nominal GDP is GDP without inflation adjustment. You want to air your pedestrian views on things you are not familiar about.

Those are IMF figures..Now if you are honest and not cherry pick IMF data that says 17.5% of KES is inflated, then you devalue the 74b by 17.5% and get 61B GDP
The gap in real gdp when adjusted to imf's own currency valuation is only 4B. (61-57)

But unless you have deep rooted insecurities, that should not worry you..Ethiopia came close to kenya and at one time overtook it, Angola has cruzed past kenya by 40B margin. Who said GDP PPP is better than GDP Norminal? Boss GDP norminal is not inflation adjusted and therefore worse..May be you meant to say Real GDP but that shows you have no grasp of the subject even the bare basics. You are just exited by numbers you dont know what they mean.Very pedestrian

Where did I say that? wapi nionyeshe! infact many economist prefer GNI which is measuring economy from the income side rather that the production side. Because production side is assumes every activity is productive..Yes even demolitions are added to GDP
TZ GNI is bigger than that of kenya..As a pedestrian, I dont expect you to understand what is GNI.

I can't claim to be what am not just to fit an argument, am not an economists, I studied Bsc-Computer Science, but some of your arguments are just too biased, depending on where the numbers are comparing TZ and KE. The TZ GNI is higher by a very small margin, but gni per capita of KE is higher than TZ. what does that show of the well being of an average individual in both nations???

Let me give you a closer example. You must have studied automata theory in Compsci which is the basis of object oriented programming. Why do you think companies shun bsc IT people in dev jobs and opt for Bsc compsci? Despite there being available knowledge on any language?
Or why do go to a doctor when info on medicine and diagnostics is readily available?
A society starts to decline when you despise professionals.. class seven person is the CS for sports, waititu and sonko are governors..I hope one day you go for an interview at the most successful company in kenya Safcom..and have a feel of their recruitment process

TZ that has more population. TZ that has twice the land size. TZ that has more than twice it arable land. TZ that has way more minerals & natural resources than Kenya. It has less corruption? Is more united and doesn't have tribal politics. And it has Magufuli 🙂 the best president ever 🙂 - and so why is it still very poor.
Kenya is the largest non-mineral economy in Africa, with highest quality of education save maybe for Mauritus, with Africa best human capital, one of most innovative & diversified economy that is sophisticated for it's stage of development, that is just about to enjoy demographic dividend (highest contraceptive usage around, lowest fertility, lowest child & infant mortality, one highest life expectancy).
We can go on and on - but Kenya has certainly done itself proud. That is now why it's now the 4th biggest economy in Sub-Sahara Africa. Angola are warned..Kenya really is 3rd Biggest Sub-Sahara Economy.
Whenever I check any indicators of Sub-Sahara it either South Africa, Nigeria or Kenya leading - that top 3 - will soon reflect when Kenya overtake Angola in 2021 or 2022.
And here come TZ - the usual laggard, petty, jealously and of course backward & retrogressive.

The solution is not to count the informal economy - it's to formalize the economy. How will black market economy help you. They won't pay taxes. They are not legal.Impossible to count in a credible way. Kenya is striving to formalize it's informal sector - and it appears to be doing well in retail & trade(more supermarkets & malls replacing dukas) - and transport (matatus). I think also real estate & construction is becoming more formal.
And that is what TZ should be doing - instead of claiming to have huge informal economy. That too is a sign of under-development.

Am Quoting 2017 figures beacause those are the ones verified and on WB data. And that represents REAL GDP not norminal.
And since we are on that same subject and you are quoting IMF/WB projections..Let us also not shy away from accepting that 17.5% of KES is inflated..and that would automaticaly mean GDP is equaly inflated as well as kenya's foreign $ denominated debt is undervalued by 17.5 percent
So the actual gap is when you consider the above (61B-57B) wich is a mere 4B.

You're not quoting 2017 figures but estimates. Kenya ended 2017 with 79B dollars. 2016 was 72B. Stop quoting third party sources - and find yourself WB & IMF figures - if not try KNBS and NBS (TZ). I mean real ones.
KShs might be overvalued - it may not be. It has to weaken - and it's doesn't look like it the mood - I think ever since IMF made that claim - it probably has strengthen by 3% or more.
We have 2017 final figures. It ended 79B for Kenya against I think 50B for TZ. The Gap was nearly 30B.
We are waiting for computation for 2018 last Q in both countries. They should be out next month.

Yeah tech companies esp those with serious research depts will prefer Comp sci guys because in Bsc IT you don't study theoretical computer sci, the math units are also few, making Comp sci guys better problem solvers in the long run, whichever problem rises. however that said many IT people are great devs regardless
Medical diagnosis is also available at the click of a button but we still prefer to visit a doctor, because of the experience and the science behind the doctors knowledge.
Now we are talking, a professional should stick to facts and protect his intellectual integrity , that is why i insist that many times i find you very biased..you give some facts then leave others just to fit your narrative esp on KE/TZ economic situation.
Come to our issue on GDP i expect you as an expert to inform the members of the forum on the issues at hand without that predictable bias that you have... and that is what will make a great forum. Members of this forum will feel in-adequate without your contribution when issues of economics are on topic, but when you become a CERTIFIED KE HATER/BASHER then we are left with our mouths wide open.
