There is only one type of offset dish the diffrence is the materail that makes it fibre,aluminium or steel!I havent come across any 2.4M wil update you if it comes my way!

Did ASAS people in Kenya see the full page advert in today's NATION newspaper by LG for a series of TVs with built in FTA Sat tuners as well as DVB T2 tuners?. The headline on the Ad states "EXPAND YOUR VIEWING OPTIONS WITH FREE-TO-AIR SATELLITE CHANNELS" (the red highlighting is from the original ad). Interesting that a large company such as LG with a reputation to protect is marketing FTA in Kenya, when, as is clear from numerous recent posts on this forum, it is presently very difficult or impossible for ordinary Kenyans to receive Kenya TV channels, such as the State Broadcaster KBC or KTN, NTV etc through a reliable Ku band sat signal on a reasonably sized cheap dish. Wananchi buying these sets, especially those living in remote areas where T2 is not available (and where it may be a long time coming), are going to be rather dissapointed if they think that they will get KBC etc free to air just using a standard Zuku type dish. It would be good if powerful companies such as LG and Samsung could put some muscle behind the lobby, mentioned by fellow ASAS on this forum, for all of the Kenya TV channels to be re-transmitted from one easy to recieve satellite on Ku band with a strong signal recievalbe in East Africa on a small dish - and of course, being members of the EA Community, why not the Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi TV channels as well?

My question would be; why are they advertising them as "FREE-TO-AIR SATELLITE CHANNELS" yet they are DVB T2 or do they receive DVB S2 also?

They claim that the TVs will receive both Satellite FTA as well as DVB T2, and this is believeable, there are combined receivers out there.

You just need a Disecq switch, which is a small litle metal box with connections for the two different LNBs and one additional connection for a cable that runs to your decoder. Most of the simple switches come with four inputs and one output, which will be fine for you, even if you just want to use two inputs. You then programme somewhere on your Astrovox, selecting Disecq on the LNB configuration, and select 'A' for your first dish/LNB, 'B' for your second. You can get these boxes on Luthuli avenue, cant remember exactly how much, but not very expensive, a few hundred Kshs. The box is mounted somewhere conveninent between the two dishes.
I also have D-Link DIR-412 router but have failed to connect it to my SRT 4922. My 3G modem is Orange modem

the dir has a lot of issues, go online and look for the latest s/w for the router, don't forget to check wheather its compatible with your moderm.

I already know that there is only one type of offset dish. The reason why I prefer the one made of pan is that it should be lighter than the one made of fiber and more convenient to move around since I'm living away from my town. Again thank you for your respond.
Hi guys I live in Kampala Uganda and I have been scanning through and I think this is the kind of forum I have been looking for seeing as Kenya and UG are in the same neighbourhood. I recently inherited a hand-me-down DSTV kit (DSD 910 receiver and 90cm Ku-band dish) from a relative who had upgraded and I am more interested in looking for FTA channels than paying for DSTV.
As I was looking through whats on offer on the Eutelsat w4/w7 i realised there are some channels that would be worthwhile at 12275 H but they are all MPEG-4 and I wanted to know if I bought an MPEG-4 FTA decoder I could still be able to pick the MPEG-2 as well. If so what affordable reliable brand/model would you guys recommend?
Also if I wanted to get channels that are on vertical polarisation how do I change the LNB. I notice there is a sort of scale of 20-0-20 does this have anything to do with the polarisation?
