How does it connect to the internet? The picture does not show the RJ45 port for ETHERNET as claimed by details
written below about the rear panel. There is a slot marked SIMCARD IN on the rear as per picture. How does this

Tried with the 150cm offset and failed...hopin to aquire a larger one and give it a shot!

From the specs of STAR TRACK 2014 HD SE GPRS, it cant handle DVB-S/S2 Transponders receiving CCM, VCM, ACM, and Multi input Stream.

The Kenya Signet mux Channels on Intelsat 22 are under Multi Stream 1 & 2.

I am using a Satellite usb tuner card called TBS 5925 to access the Kenyan signet channels on Intelsat 22.

TBS5925 USB DVB-S2 Professional external TV Tuner box, a device that any personal enthusiasts or engineers in digital satellite TV industry dream to have.

The applying of an unique DVB-S2 demodulator chipset makes it possible to receive special streams broadcasted with ACM, VCM, Multi Input Stream(MIS), 16APSK, 32APSK, which most satellite receiving devices can't support.

The built in hardware blind scan feature allows scanning of unknown satellite transponder with symbol rate as low as 200ksps, while most satellite receiving device can receive no less than 1Msps symbol rate.

With use of dedicated TBS tools or Crazyscan, EBS Pro those special streams can be captured.
Both Windows BDA driver and Linux driver up to the latest kernel 3.X are provided.


TBS5925 is the USB version of its' equivalent device: TBS6925 PCIe DVB-S2 Professional TV Tuner card

TBS 5925 is connect to your pc or laptop via usb port and you need a couple of different software's to run the device.

In Nairobi, you can nail Astra 2f, West Africa footprint using a 1.3 meter offset dish as long as the demodulation is under DVB-S.

If the demodulation is under DVB-S2 QPSK you would need a 1.6 meter while if it is set at 8PSK demodulation, you would require a 2.4 meter offset.

One thing i have come to understand with satellite footprints, is that the footprint images posted show how much satellite signal power is focused to a particular region which can be true or false.
The higher the power in a said region or the more powerful a satellite is, the less dish size required.

It all boils down to dish size

Hi Kungu, we missed you - good to see your insight and expertise again.

Do you have any inside knowledge on the just commissioned Eutelsat 3D at 3 deg E? It supposedly has a Ku beam with pan Africa footprint, and a good signal strength according to the sat operators website. But none of the big sat info web sites, Lyngsat, King of Sat etc show any transponders for the Africa Ku beam, plenty going on with the Europe A and Europe B beams. I have tried with my 1.3 m offset dish, positioned where the sat should be, (just below SES5), and done blind scans, but have not managed to lock anything, not even a test card. What do you think?
